A Russian cyber-criminal group was behind a ransomware attack that has targeted the world's largest meat processing company, the FBI has said.
The FBI said it would was working to bring the REvil group to justice for the hack on JBS.
The cyber-breach over the weekend shut some JBS operations in the US, Canada and Australia."

Biden said during election many times, "Putin 'will pay a price' for Russian efforts"

Will Putin "pay a price " this time ?

Let’s show them our US Army recruitment video/cartoon. That will scare them into doing something about it.

Playing Triumph of the Will over and over won’t recruit anyone for the US Army bud.

Does Biden have the balls to make 'Putin 'pay a price''? Rather doubtful.

The Biden administration has already demonstrated weakness in foreign policy, already multiple times. So I think it's a pretty good bet that Biden won't make 'Putin pay'.

As we all know Trump and his administration loved/loves Russia and Putin. We might well assume that the GQP tacitly agrees.

While Biden and his administration and the Democratic Party have yet to express their love for Russia and Putin we haven't yet seen Biden's tough Russian policy. It is possible. Biden will be meeting soon with Putin in Geneva.

At this point, based on the normal Democrat panty-waisted SOP for all things oppositional - US political and foreign political - I am not optimistic.

Biden must explain to Putin that the cyber attacks against the US, Russian government supported and/or from Russians citizens and/or those people within Russian control, must cease and desist soonest or they will be met in kind by the US and more so.

Leave the US the hell alone, including election interference, or there will be swift consequences.

The US will either be the fecker or the feckee, that is up to Biden. No more Trumpian hugs and kisses for Putin and Company from the US. That US policy toward Russia left the same day Trump left office. Gone, forever.

If there is a new sheriff in town, Biden and the Dems must walk the talk and be clear about it.

Seems you are vacillating between these 2 positions?

Not to my thinking. Trump and his administration were/are Putin suck-ups and thus his minions follow suit.

Biden and the Dems too can kiss Putin's butt a la Trump or they can soft pedal responses to Putin or they can do nothing at all but ask nicely for Putin to stop. I don't, however, see Biden jumping on Trump's love train with Putin.

Biden and the Dems are very unlikely to kiss Putin's butt. Not continuing Trump's/GQP's love affair with Putin would mean a change in the US's Russian policy.

Will Biden take a firm and clear position toward Putin? Will Biden stand behind his words? We may soon find out as Biden heads to Europe.

Will the Dems stand behind Biden's Russian policy? That remains to be seen. Will Biden and the Dems soft pedal a response to Putin's aggression? That is entirely possible, though I hope not.

Could be Biden will be strong but the Dems will be weak kneed. Could be Biden will be strong and mean it and the Dems work in concert with him.

Given what we know, the GQP will work against Biden's Russian policy unless Biden decides to kiss Putin's ass.

The US is under a cyber attack by Russia. Let's see how the current administration responds. So far they have given Russia a pass. In fact they've rewarded them.

Meh. I think here we disagree.

No such train, at least not from my observation.
Yes, Trump 'buttered up' Putin (ridiculous and ineffective ploy), but actions speak louder than words, and Trump was pretty tough on Russia, policy wise.
Biden, so far, has only done favors for Russia.

Already has by damaging US petroleum industry and lifting sanctions on the Nord Stream pipeline.

Agreed. Yet to be seen.

Don't know where you get this from.

The United States has been under cyber attack by Russia since around 2013.

The Trump campaign benefitted from it an coordinated its messanging with it. And Trump and McConnell made sure the US did not fight back.

Things will be different with this Administration.

Indeed one of the reasons the Russians are doing these things now is to try and up the ante.

They had it easy with Trump. They just told him what they wanted and he got out of their way or served their interests (Syria, Ukriane, alienating allies, division).

Blinken and Biden are going to be a different story.

Trump was an international pariah by his second year in office. The world breathed an audible sigh of relief when the G-20 summit got cancelled due to Covid, No one wanted to endure the embarrassing spectacle of watching Trump make a fool of himself, shove people, and suck up the Putin again.

How effective the Biden Administration will be remains to be seen.

But the days when Moscow got attaboys from the White House are over.

Yeah, Trump never let Russian spies into his campaign headquarters in the middle of an election.

Trump never kissed Putin’s ass.

Trump didn’t quit the Middle East, and Russian flags didn’t go up over abandoned US bases.

Trump didn’t get trolled by Putin in Helsinki

Trump didn’t theaten the President of Ukraine by suggesting that military aid was conditional based in him getting a “favor” in the form of promoting the Russian campaign to create dirt for the 2020 election.

Russia is pushing it’s luck now, because Trump gave them almost everything they wanted without question.

But according to you, that’s ‘old news”. Which is what right wingers say when the truth comes home to roost.

I had someone try to argue with me and tell me that Anime Weebo kids would be great for the army because there are some Animes about war. Todays kids with critical thinking is an endangered species. I went on to explain how most anime is about death and gore and war sometimes because the artist is scared of that and thats is what they want to express. And how anime people are like 100 lbs wet and tiny people and every anime person I ever met was a super skinny or super fat pacifist person almost. The 18 year old kid proceeded to just tell me that I was just flat out wrong and that Anime people are perfect warrior roles. But this is the same kid that thinks he can beat people up even though hes never been in a fight so thats probably EXACTLY who the army is trying to recruit.

Russia has gotten nothing but atta-boys from Biden so far. In fact Biden lifted sanctions Trump placed on Russia. Of course that’s a fact and it’s irrelevant to you.

Putin own Biden.

I am not aware that Biden lifted any sanctions other than the Nord Stream II, which I am not entirely comfortable with.

Trump’s instructions from Moscow were to eliminate all the sanctions the United States imposed on Moscow after their invasion of Crimea, and later, Ukraine.

And that was the Trump cabels intention. We heard him tell the head of stations of the FSB that. Blabbing it the way Flynn did, queered the deal. Congress was never going to even consider allowing the sanctions to lapse after that. Trump tried, and got quickly rebuffed.

Trump did cancel the specific sanctions against Oleg Deripashka, shortly after Manafort was pardoned. After all, Manafort owed Deripashka $19 millions. And Oleg was not the forgiving type. Mitch McConnell gave cover to Trump by blocking his own Senate from asserting their authority.

And there was a nice gift for Mitch from Oleg, too!

Biden lifted sanctions. Who cares which ones they were. He lifted them.

Glen Greenwald made the excellent point on Tucker Carlson that the Department of Defense spends billions on offense and millions spying on Americans but almost nothing on actual defense.

Nuclear weapons of all sorts but Chinese and Russian hackers can shut down US information systems, transportation systems, and likely anything else of importance. The DoD is an overfed waddling duck with no 'deterrence' whatsoever. The $5 million ransoms were chump change and just a test run for things to come.

And Joe Biden is in charge.

Biden lifted sanctions. Who cares which ones they were. He lifted them.
The argument seems to be that if they like that he lifted the sanctions it means he really didn't lift them.
