Jay Cutler is a Bear!

Nope.

Second happiest.

I'm the happiest we didn't over pay for that premadona.

We would've likely have to have given up Campbell, who isn't that statistically different than Culter in many ways, one of our five draft picks this year (and the only first day draft pick), and our first round next year. We've got way to many holes for that.

I was DREADING the big Danny making another blunder with denver

Nobody can be happier than a Bears fan who finally has a franchise QB.

And for us, the choice was simple. Next years pick was gonna be a QB anyway. And Angelo sucks at first round picks, so it would have probably been a crappy pick.

This year we miss out on one of the top wideouts, who would have been worthless anyway without a talented QB.

So in essence, given the Bears propensity for drafting offensive players like **** in the first round, we essentially gave up nothing but two future headaches for Cutler.

Chicago isn't a bad place to have your career go south on you I guess.

Not a bad deal though. I'll take proven NFL players over unknown draft potential anyday.

"Let freedom ring. And when this happens, and when we allow freedom ring—when we let it ring from every village and every hamlet, from every state and every city, we will be able to speed up that day when all of God's children—black men and white men, Jews and Gentiles, Protestants and Catholics—will be able to join hands and sing in the words of the old Negro spiritual: "Free at last! Free at last! Thank God Almighty, we are free at last!"

You just got Orlando Pace too

The rich get richer in Chicago as Pace joins Cutler
Jay Cutler will have to make room for a new Pro Bowl-caliber left tackle after the Bears agreed to a deal with former Ram Orlando Pace.

The move was announced about an hour after the deal that brought Cutler from Denver to Chicago occurred.

Pace, a seven-time Pro Bowler beset by injuries the past three years, was cut by St. Louis in March.

He'll help fortify an offensive line in front of new QB Cutler after the departures of John Tait (retired) and John St. Clair (free agency, to the Browns).

My god, Chicago gets a QB and now they think they have a team. :2razz:

Seriously though, with his addition, they should be favorites in a weak NFC North division.

Who will he throw to?

Backs, tight ends, and Hester.

Exactly. One of the Top recieving backs last year in Forte. Two excellent receiving tight ends in Clark and Olsen. Hester. And don't forget, last years 3rd round pick, Earl Bennett, played with Cutler at Vandy so they already have some working experience together.

Combine the Cutler move with getting Pace, safety Josh Bullocks, and backups Ominyale and Shaffer to bolster the O-line and I've gotta give Angelo tons of credit for making a huge splash in the off-season. Re-signing Kevin jones as insurance for Forte was a pretty good move as well.

Now they can focus on filling some gaps on D during the draft.

The Rams cut Pace for a reason. He's ****ing old and gets injured easily. He's a HoF lineman for sure, and he was outstanding in his prime. But you guys aren't getting that Orlando Pace. Although an old beat up Orlando Pace can't be worse than what you have already.

Salary cap room was a huge factor in cutting Pace. When coupled with the injury concerns, obviously he was costing way too much for his lowered value.

But at what the Bears get him for, he's a deal.

And not only is an old beat up Pace not WORSE than what the Bears had last year, he's several magnitudes above John St. Clair was last year at the position.

St. Clair was terrible. Watch the two Vikings game last year when he lined up against Jared Allen. Allen had 4.5 sacks and 14 tackles (9 solo) in those two games by ass-raping St. Claire up and down the field. And St. Claire looked like that more often than not. People think he did a decent job because Kyle Orton survived the season without having internal bleeding.

Pace is a monstrously huge improvement at the position.

Agreed. I remember when the Texans got the first pick, and picked...... Damn, what's his name?

Hey Bears fans, Plaxico was just cut by the Giants.......

Cutler would probably appreciate having someone to throw downfield to,

Pace will reunite with Lovie Smith, who was the defensive coordinator for the Rams when Pace was considered one of the best left tackles in football.

Released by the Rams three weeks ago in a move to clear $6 million in cap room, the 33-year-old Pace joins a team that suddenly has a different look on offense after going 9-7 and missing the playoffs for the second straight year. The Bears have a Pro Bowl quarterback they craved in Cutler, to go with promising young players such as tight end Greg Olsen and running back Matt Forte.

"We really feel that it gives us a very good offensive line," general manager Jerry Angelo said during a conference call with Chicago reporters. "We've had some real good success with veteran players -- John Tait, Fred Miller, Ruben Brown -- and we felt that Orlando is the same. Obviously, he's a potential Hall of Fame player. He expressed to us on his visit that he wants to continue to play, and he feels that his health is as good as it's been in awhile."

The top pick in the 1997 draft, the 6-foot-7 Pace started 154 of 158 games for the Rams while helping them win one Super Bowl and reach another. He blocked for three straight MVPs -- quarterback Kurt Warner in 1999 and 2001 and running back Marshall Faulk in 2000 -- but had been hit hard by injuries in recent seasons.

Pace had an offer from the Philadelphia Eagles, but he decided to sign with the Bears on the day Cutler was acquired in a trade from the Broncos.
