Congress woman Jasmine Crockett. Privileged childhood, expensive private schools and colleges.
Crockett was born in St. Louis, Missouri, to parents Rev. Joseph and Gwen Crockett. She attended Mary Institute and St. Louis Country Day School and Rosati-Kain, an all-girls Catholic high school in St. Louis. Renowned private academies which tuitions range from $13,000 to $34,000 per year depending on which school and what grade level.
She then attended, Rhodes College in Memphis TN, rated as one of the 60 best college/universities in America. It also holds the #28 spot in the category of Best Undergraduate Teaching. She graduated in 2003 with a Bachelor of Arts in business administration.

She began law school at Thurgood Marshall School of Law at Texas Southern University before graduating from the University of Houston Law Center in 2006 with a Juris Doctor and soon passed the bar examination. She was a member of the National Bar Association and of the Dallas Black Criminal Bar Association.

Obviously a well educated individual with opportunities not afforded to everyone. She was eventually elected to the Texas State Legislature as a democrat.
After being elected to the U.S. Congress as a representative of the House of Represntative, she has begun to represent herself in a much different character. Her persona suddenly changed.
Her speech patterns, her language, her use of profanity and what some would refer to as "ghetto" characteristics have quickly grown when she talks to certain groups.
It's my opinion that this is insulting to black Americans. Portraying herself to be someone she is not for political purposes. To me it's demeaning to others not as fortunate.
Here are some examples and opinions from others.

Be sure to watch poor Jasmine at the 5:20 mark of the following as she bemouns her financial woes of being a member of Congress in the following. Notice how well she speaks. Very smooth and professional.

Don't you support Trump? The guy who feeds on the worst and most uncivilized elements and racial grievances of low human capital white trash? The guy who shits on the legacy of the WASP in favor of middle American rube politics?

I'm glad we have you - a civil rights icon - to step in on behalf of black people and let us know that Crockett isn't actually representative of the black community. You clearly are leading by example in supporting the civilized, eloquent, and patrician character of Trump.

If I ever want to judge Crockett, I won't be doing it on this basis. I am not remotely qualified, and I know it.

It's pretty normal for people of color to adopt different dialects in different social circumstances. It's commonly referred to as "code switching", and it offers numerous advantages to those who become skilled at it.

Her resume looks pretty impressive to me. Of course, I would expect the MAGA crowd to attack as if it was not.

This thread attempt to demean her appears to me to be more like an act of desperation. Typical MAGA tactic. Dismissed.

Congratulations on discovering the art of code-switching!
🥳🥳

What you should do now is learn what it is and how it's relevant for minority communities in this country before you expose too much of your ignorance. I can code-switch in two languages, and it comes in pretty handy as a communication tool. It's helpful if used properly and if the code-switching you're doing is genuine to your background. For example, I grew up in a minority neighborhood where I learned the local English and Spanish slang, but was educated well enough to speak both languages properly as well, so I can code-switch effectively in both languages. Had I not had exposure to the slang in my environment and learned it indirectly, then it can come off as pandering because there are nuances to how one code-switches which comes from direct experience.

Only people of color do this?

Is that your assertion?
No, I said that it's normal for people of color to do this. Other people can do it too though. It's not exclusively a black thing, but it is an important element of black culture.

Growing up I was referred to as the kid who could speak "white".

Yes, this! As an XY person, you are too "X" for the Y people but too "Y" for the X people, so you try to be more Y or X depending.
