Japanese scientists were able to download the entirety of Netflix (more than 2,300 TV series and 4,300 movies) in less than one second.

You thought your gigabit service was good? Try 1.2 petabits.

In 2024, scientists at Aston University in the U.K successfully achieved 402 terabits per second internet speed, which is roughly 1.6 million times faster than typical home broadband. Now, a new team of scientists led by the National Institute of Information and Communications Technology (NICT) in Japan have absolutely shattered that record by achieving a transmit speed of 1.02 petabits of data—about 4 million times faster than home internet—over a distance over 1,800 kilometers. NICT previously achieved even faster speeds (1.7 petabits) but only transmitted over 63 kilometers.

The only thing more impressive about these types of advancements in hardware, is the ability of software devs to use it all up and still ask for more lol.

As Tim Taylor used to say: "MORE POWER!!!!".

Did someone use and abuse you in the past, being a binary digit?... 😔 😁

I think it's pretty impressive how big greedy American internet providers can get so much money out of us for such pathetic service.

Just think of how much they'll charge for those advertised petabit speeds that you'll never actually hit and don't even need. ;)
