I think you know better than that. And, frankly, it's always open season on the Duggars because of the family's size and "Quiverfull" views. I don't wish to sit in judgment of the entire family, but it does seem to me that the parents and his wife, however well-intentioned they might have been, enabled Josh Duggar.

Duggar has been convicted now, and deservedly so. Until I read that DM article, I'd never heard of "hurtcore" porn or of a particular pornographic work of this genre that is identified as having been in the filth on his computer. Suffice it to say that Duggar enjoys seeing babies sexually abused and tortured.

They’ve been formally charged. Pretty sure the paper didn’t make that part up. The poster you were replying to seems two think a public prosecutor pursuing sex crimes is also a liberal plot...odd hill for them to die on, but whatever

Even most pedophiles are appalled by and reject "hurtporn." I can't imagine anything more depraved than torturing and raping a baby and am grateful for my limited imagination.

Holy crow, the police get involved in that? In Maine, that's a CPS investigation unless the child was injured.
Kids go down for a nap, mom decides to snooze a little too. But kids wake up and decide it's a great time to go out and play. Fortunately, most kids know better, but it's not something to arrest mom over unless she's high as a kite or otherwise neglectful

If I saw a little kid/toddler wandering down the street alone, I would call the police. I think that it's usually the first-responders who take the next step--e.g. contacting CPS or MHMR.

Well, they obviously have enough evidence to charge her. She's innocent until proven guilty.

You need only very slight evidence to charge someone with anything, as the cases against Rittenhouse, Zimmerman, etc show.

Granted, sure. But the evidentiary burden to file charges is not the same to prove them, I have no dog in this fight, I don’t know the specifics of Janas case, all I said is that I don’t believe charges just because a prosecutor filed them.

5-27-207. Endangering the welfare of a minor in the third degree.

(a) (1) A person commits the offense of endangering the welfare of a minor in the third degree if the person recklessly engages in conduct creating a substantial risk of serious harm to the physical or mental welfare of a person known by the actor to be a minor.

(2) As used in this section, "serious harm to the physical or mental welfare" means physical or mental injury that causes:

(A) Protracted disfigurement;

(B) Protracted impairment of physical or mental health; or

(C) Loss or protracted impairment of the function of any bodily member or organ.

(b) Endangering the welfare of a minor in the third degree is a Class B misdemeanor.

Not sure falling asleep and a kid gets out of your house makes sense with this. I'll be curious to hear the details. I'm surprised no one found out about this before now. It happened in early September.

Oh definitely. Police would hand it over once the kid is home.
