Jan 6 hearings, a fiasco?

Everybody knows what it's for, that's why it's even on prime time tv! :)
It's trying hard like a reality tv. Unfortunately, it flopped.

....and, it didn't make any difference. 🤷

Thirty-eight percent of respondents thought former President Trump was directly responsible for Jan. 6, compared to 42 percent who said so in June just before a hearing that featured explosive testimony from White House aide Cassidy Hutchinson.
But after those hearings, 32 percent of respondents said Trump did nothing wrong regarding Jan. 6, compared to 30 percent who gave that response in June. Just 5 percent of Republicans view Trump as directly responsible, according to the poll.

“The sensational revelations during the hearings do not seem to have moved the public opinion needle on Trump’s culpability for either the riot or his spurious election fraud claims,” said Patrick Murray,
Monmouth University Polling Institute’s director.

I think, these hearings are hurting the Dems a whole lot more than they do the Republicans.
The hearings shows Dem are more focused into something that's becoming so "petty" when compared to the crisis that's gripping America.
viewership dropped because the committee had already proved the point and viewers did not need any additional information. They are already convinced of what Trump is being accused about.

How do I know that? I know that because I watched every single one of the meetings up to this last one. I did not watch the last one. I did not need MORE information.

.........or when they do testify they plead the 5th. These are two points the right deliberately ignores when the whine about not hearing " the other side of the story" . How does one hear if someone doesn't speak!
That is exactly right.

Why did 30 witnesses plead the 5th giving testimony?
Because they could not fight off a Congressional subpoena and did not want to incriminate themselves with testimony that could be used against them in a court of law.

Why has Trump not taken advantage of the Committee's offer that he could come forward and testify under oath without subpoena?
Because as the former President he can fight off a Committee Subpoena and he does not want to take the 5th nor does he want to incriminate himself in testimony. So he will avoid giving testimony as opposed to welcoming the opportunity.

Perhaps we should stop electing people that do not have an ethical nor principled nor even prudent basis for their "public service". I put Morals aside in any discussion of the United States or Trump as it is not a moral country no matter how much it pleads for people to believe it or ever has been and Trump is not a moral man. Does not have an inch of morality in him.

It's not foremost in people's mind - that's what the polls show.
It's inflation that they're concerned about.

Well - yeah!
From my standpoint - as a Republican supporter - that's a good thing!
too.

Wow! Fascinating!

This is the most open admission I have seen yet that conservatives are willing to overlook, even propagate, dangerous criminal behavior and sedition at the highest levels of power in the United States government- if it helps advance their political cause.

In your zeal to advance a political party platform, I don’t think you have really fully thought through the long-term implications of what a country like that could ultimately look like.

The degree to which Righties have turned to "we know Trump did it...we don't care" from "he didn't do it" is remarkable for its tie to how much evidence there now is that Donnie is up his ears in both J6 and Willful Retention and Obstruction with regard to National Security Information belonging to the United States of America.

There is a whole slew of them in this forum that have flipped their script virtually at the same moment in time. Remarkably that they think we are STUUUPID enough not to have noticed.

Actually, @redbeer, "The American People are Sick and Tired" of a former POTUS who sat on his ass and gloated with glee while his armed, violent, useful idiots tried to murder his very own Vice President, so he could remain in power, in direct violation to his Constitutional Oath to "Protect All Americans from enemies, both foreign and domestic."

Rofl...."who sat on his ass and gloated with glee"......they got you bad, got you sucked up into lala land of misinformation and useless narratives.....too damn funny.

Who are "they?" (I know who they are. You obviously don't. Prove me wrong.)

"they" being Cassie Hutchinson ( formerly part of Trump's innermost circle), who was at the White House on 1/06/21, and overheard Mark Meadows reply to another member of the innermost circle, who was imploring Trump to call off the violent insurrection being perpetrated at the U.S. Capitol by his useful idiots - "You heard him. ( Trump ) He doesn't want to do anything. He's fine with what his people are doing for him up at the U.S. Capitol."

Lol, the useful idiots who got people like you coming on political forums repeating their lala land fairy tales and false narratives.....lol.

ROFL....it never ends. They are so easy to steer in any direction they want them to go, lol.

What part of the "narrative" is false? Oh let me guess.....you don't know because your head is firmly stuck in the sand by choice.

Let me get this straight.....you are of the position that actually believe this......"Trump sat on his ass and shouted with glee"......to you this is a factual representation of the 6th? FYI, if you think so, then by God, they got you into believing a false narrative, period.

^Exactly what Hutchinson and others within Trump's innermost circle stated about Trump steering his violent insurrectionist domestic terrorists to the Capitol to try and stifle VP Pence from ratifying a free and fair 2020 POTUS election, to ensure the peaceful transfer from a defeated POTUS to a duly POTUS-Elect.

*gloated* with glee. You can't even remember what you quoted 20 minutes ago. Did you have a Freudian slip with your misspeak? -lol - 🤡

Trump obviously sat on his ass. Why do you think the VP and the Speaker had to jump into the power vacuum left by the President drooling in front of his WH TV? The VP and Speaker had to struggle to get something done that the President could have done with a snap of his fingers and should have done. That entire day, J6 was a dereliction of duty on the Part of the President if not involving outright criminal illegality.

I knew you had no clue.

Not sure about the "glee" part although it fits with Trump's normal reaction to adoring crowds but he most certainly sat on his ass and did nothing as the Capitol was attacked with every single elected federal representative inside. How Trumpers justify this is mind-blowing. The President of the United States, the Commander in Chief, sat on his ass and did nothing for three hours! Would love to hear your defence of that.

When is the best time?
Right before the election, of course!
I'm just being sarcastic in that even many Dems felt the subpoena announcement (right now) was more or less for show. Potentially dramatic but useless.

Majority of Americans are finding inflation and economy as the crisis that's directly affecting their lives.

......the poll found independent voters are primarily concerned with rising prices.

Overall,
82% of Americans ranked inflation as an extremely or very important issue, compared with 56% who ranked abortion as a top worry and 32% who said the coronavirus pandemic was a big concern.

More broadly, anxiety about the economy and cost of living supersede concerns about losing fundamental rights or threats to democracy 54% to 38% among all Americans.

The right always tries to deflect whenever the felonious behaviors of dear leader or brought up.

Nope. That's just the facts.

Sure. While they were engagimg in the criminal behavior, they should have thought about how it could become public information at the most inopportune time.

Crime doesn't pay.

And when Trump finally did something it was so absurd, creepy and weird that the only reason some judged that as enough is that what they got out of him is all they could get out of him no matter how hard they squeezed.
"go home now....we love you" hours later. Give me a break.

Why continually talk about Trump, when Joe Biden has been president the last two years??? Get over yourself and speak about the 'here and now', for this is what's important to American voters. Hard to let go....ain't it? With Biden and the left's control of Congress, I really can't blame you.....it's been bad, real bad.

My opinion? I don't think Trump will run in the next election.
I think, he'll hand the baton to deSantis.
Then you don't know Trump.

He's like a little princess who becomes outraged when another girl gets too much attention.

Hand the baton to DeSantis? Donald Trump?

Yeah, you don't know Trump.

Why continually talk about Trump, when Joe Biden has been president the last two years???

Because Donald Trump is a dangerous criminal and a clear and present danger to American democracy.
