Let me introduce you to some people who absolutely despise the left, and also really believe (or *really* hope) that Trump could take the next 4 years to dismantle democracy and claim some sort-of dictator/king-like position.

Let’s start with this guy:
Curtis Yarvin
ynyt.webp

Curtis Yarvin recently stated in an interview with the New York Times that “Democracy is done”, and I think you could say that he was almost ‘giddy’ at the thought: https://www.nytimes.com/2025/01/18/magazine/curtis-yarvin-interview.html

Yarvin co-founded the Neo-Reactionary Movement (also referred to as NRx or "Dark Enlightenment”), that advocates for the destruction of democracy and believes that in its place should be a tech-run monarchy. He has stated that America needs to get over its “dictator-phobia.” He is also known for re-coining the term "red-pill" to mean a rejection of liberal (or "woke") values. He has a big influence on the beliefs of many tech-bros in Silicon Valley as well as right-wing politicians. He wrote an essay called "The Butterfly Revolution", where he offers a blueprint for Trump's second term with the goal of dismantling democracy.

Yarvin has written extensively about the type of government that he believes should replace the US Federal Government: A series of “patches” or “network states” (or “freedom cities”) that are run by tech CEOs and companies. Some highlight from Yarvin's book "Patchwork" where he describes how these "states" should be run:
  • Citizens should have no political voice (and may be punished for voicing any views that contradict that of the ruling government).
  • Citizens deemed “unproductive” would be subject to “humane genocide”
  • All citizens would carry an ID card with RFID response. Public places and transportation systems track everyone. Security cameras are omnipresent. Every car reports where it is and who is sitting in it to the authorities. The government can data collected through surveillance to monitor society at an "almost arbitrarily detailed level."
  • There would be no real “law” but an agreement that the citizen would sign. The government would have power to suspend that agreement at any time and for any reason.
You can read the whole thing here: https://www.unqualified-reservations.org/2008/11/patchwork-2-profit-strategies-for-our/

Connections to the Trump administration:

JD Vance
mentioned being influenced by Curtis Yarvin on a podcast, and talked about how Yarvin's ideas specifically influenced his view on how Trump should approach his second term. He talks about Yarvin's idea called "RAGE" (Retire All Government Employees) that would later become "DOGE." Watch here.
Yarvin also mentioned in a recent interview that he had been texting Vance some ideas and had lunch with Michael Anton (a senior member of Trump’s State Department) the week of the inauguration. Read about it here: https://www.politico.com/news/magazine/2025/01/30/curtis-yarvins-ideas-00201552

Next up:
Peter Thiel

sc.png

Thiel is a entrepreneur and venture capitalist. He co-founded PayPal with Elon Musk, co-founded Palantir (a tech company that produces surveillance tools used by United States Intelligence Community (USIC) and United States Department of Defense), and the Founders Fund (who were the first to invest in Musk's SpaceX).

Thiel is a follower of Yarvin, and echoed Yarvin's belief that America should "move away" from Democracy in an essay where he stated that he "no longer believe that freedom and democracy are compatible.” He has also said “democracy, whatever that means, is exhausted and that we have to ask some questions very far outside the Overton window."

Connections to Trump:

Aside from the obvious Musk connections...

Thiel funded Trump's campaign for 2016 Presidential election, and was on the executive committee for Trump's transition team. JD Vance (it’s not a coincidence that both are a fan of Yarvin) and Vivek Ramaswamy also worked for Thiel at one of his companies, and he was their political mentor and investor when they transitioned into politics. Thiel donated $15 million dollars toward Vance's run for Congress (which was the largest donation from a single donor in Congress campaign history). In 2021, Thiel brought Vance to Mar-a-Lago to patch up his relationship with Trump.

Many former employees of Thiel’s Palantir have also landed jobs with Trump’s new administration.

Ran out of characters, so to be continued...

And I'll throw this guy in:
Balaji Srinivasan
sc2.webp
Srinivasan is a tech entrepreneur and investor. He is the former CTO of Coinbase, and former general partner at Marc Andreesen's venture capitalist firm. Srinivasan wrote a book called "The Network State" which was heavily influenced Yarvin's book "Patchwork" and his ideas for a future America. In his book, he also advocates for the end of democracy. He suggests that alliance to tech companies and figures are to be rewarded, and expression of any liberal/leftist ideas is to be punished. It gets weirder, he also advocates for "ethnic cleansing", but it doesn't get as weird as Yarvin's "humane genocide" suggestion.

Connection to Trump:

He's worked closely with Marc Andreesen. Andreesen is a tech entrepreneur himself (co-founded Netscape), and is one of Trump's top tech policy advisors one of Trump's top tech policy advisors, and spent half of 2024 at Mar-a-Lago (https://www.businessinsider.com/marc-andreessen-trump-maralago-2024-12). Andreesen is a big supporter of Srinivasan, and wrote that “Balaji has the highest rate of output per minute of good new ideas of anybody I’ve ever met” for the book Srinivasan's book "The Network State." Marc has also cited Yarvin as an influence.

This belongs in the Conspiracy Theories subforum.
To be fair: these are the real political opinions of powerful people within the tech world who have real political influence. The point of this post is not to suggest that Trump will become a dictator, but that there are a growing number of people who openly wish to see it.

The whole Thiel/Andreesen/BAP/Yarvin network is so unsettling and insidious. These people are like nightmare fuel late stage capitalist accelerationists that propose an ideology which is probably more evil and anti-human than anything that has come prior.

The evil part isn't even necessarily that they reject democracy, or that they are illiberal, or that they believe in dictatorship. The truly insidious aspect of effective accelerationism lies in the fact that they seek to commodify all of humanity into a sort of singularity of productive capital so that the "CEOs" can basically become immortal gods and spread their consciousness throughout the cosmos. I know this sounds ridiculous and absurd, but that is the quick and dirty of what the end game of these people is. Like at least with Hitler we could say that on some level he loved his people and his nation. At least with Stalin we could say that his ambitions lifted Russia from an agricultural society into a technological superpower and so on some level he had a sort of patriotism. These people only love themselves and their money. They see humanity as stepping stones and cattle - expendable meat that can be processed to push them into the cosmos and terraform Mars or something.

These people aren't far from power as you demonstrate in the OP too. Palantir is effectively an American intelligence asset. Vance was created by Thiel and Vance has successfully coopted MAGA as the heir apparent. The right wing is sleep walking into a Harkonnen-tier post-industrial nightmare by a bunch of ugly resentful freaks and technocrat lizardmen.

It’s like the existence of Billionaires is a bad thing or something.

I mean, a few years ago I would have just rolled my eyes at a lot of it, but it is really concerning at how effectively they've grown in power/influence.

Time to get out of this f*cking country.

I mean, a few years ago I would have just rolled my eyes at a lot of it, but it is really concerning and how effectively they've grown in power/influence.

I've said this many times: the danger of Trump wasn't ever going to be Trump the man. He has no political savvy and very little will to actually govern. Deep down, I think ideologically Trump is - at worst - a racist liberal.

The real question was always going to be who inherits MAGA and ends up wielding the legitimacy of Trump's cult of personality. Authority ending up in the hands of Vance and the Thiel network is about as bad of a timeline as anyone could of asked for, regardless of political affiliation.

Agreed. Ultimately, I think Trump is just an effective distraction (whether that's by design or not). I don't think he is bought-in to any particular ideology. Vance is scary, he literally wrote a blurb for a book (Unhumans: The Secret History of Communist Revolutions (and How to Crush Them)) that's central thesis is that the American left are "unhuman" and should be treated as such.

These morons believe that the center left corporatist party is actually Communist and would murder because of it.

What a bunch of dweebs.

This is the sober take and refreshing to see on this website. High IQ individual.

Agreed. Sort of miraculous that no one seems to point out that this guy came from literally nowhere. His origin story is mostly fake, his name is fake, his personality is fake. The guy is a total artifice. He might as well of been grown via test tube in a lab somewhere by Peter Thiel. Other books he's participated in not withstanding, his affiliation with techno-optimism and accelerationism should make everyone - radical or not - reject Vance. Fundamentally I see what the technocrats want as almost being apolitical, just generally anti-human, anti-life.

They couldn't have done it without a moron in the WH. Trump is the useful idiot. All a billionaire has to do is lavish praise on him and throw some money his way, and presto, they have him. Just look at his cabinet and his newfound acquaintances, Starting with Musk, Zuck, and Bezos. There are others.

Thank ya, appreciated.

This is very key. While many of them do actively hate left politics, their affiliation with conservative politics is really more about how people are more easily controlled in a conservative society (every person has their role, and most stick to that role), but their version of it is so extreme and devoid of humanity that I think even most conservatives would be appalled.

I agree. I think many people have cracked Trump's code, and have been able to take advantage of it. The fact that Trump (and his base) was very anti-H1B visas as it is not a very "America first" policy. But when Musk said that he would fight anyone who wanted to take H1B visas away and MAGA followers got angry at him for it (and then Musk attempted to silence them), Trump ultimately took Musk's side over his base. Musk probably won't last the next 4 years, as Trump's loyalty is always drifting and his inner-circle is always changing.

This rightly belongs in the Conspiracy Theories subforum.

Saved me the trouble of posting that myself. ;)

I will state this as a matter of personal opinion, but I assert that it is true.

Trump is not interested in becoming "dictator."

As for these associations? I am sure people have been able to assert similar types of "connections" with Liberal politicians.

This does not equate to guilt simply by association. Even Democrats who've associated with people of "poor" repute don't necessarily indicate agreement/support with their goals.

Politics makes for strange bedfellows (Charles Dudley Warner).

Some of us here in Ohio figured out a while back that vance could easily present more of a danger than trump. The most benign thing that can be said about vance is to point out he's a chameleon, an opportunist, who assumes whatever personality he thinks will benefit and further his political prospects.

I will state this as a matter of personal opinion, but I assert that it is true.

🤣

I doubt there's any other public figure in America who wants to be a dictator more than Trump does - in a way so cliched, and announced so loudly that if Trump was a fictional character, I'd criticize the author for being too obvious.

Don't you remember Trump demanding parades of tanks and goose-stepping soldiers his first year in office?

So they will look as retarded as the leftists in 4 years when Trump is gone and we have had another election........

Imagine the techy cast of Big Bang Theory concocting their own AI version of Dungeons & Dragons, with fantasized avatars of themselves concocting a scheme to rule the world with their technology and utopian vision for science - and you have these sorts of D & D themes being proposed.

No, Trump is no dictator or anyone with visions of same.

This is just another manifestation of the left's hatred of him and what he represents - radical change in Washington - for the better.
