He and other gun haters whine about Lott while they fluff Hemenway of Harvard who is a hard core gun banner who is paid by gun banners to come up with gun banning propaganda. Lott started off as Anti gun and his research turned him around. Hemenway is a paid whore who starts with his conclusions and works backwards to try to justify them

If I'm not mistaken, even you admit that people defend themselves at least 200,000 times a year, right? So doing basic math. 200,000 times 49 (the total years used to get the number of total deaths) equals 9.8 million.

They can and DO pay them off all the time. They also don't have to pay off American law enforcement. They can also pay off American military men. Guns fall of trucks all the time. What was that last ATF scandal where they "lost" the guns? Fast and furious?

I can say that because those countries didn't have an issue before. They passed reactionary legislation due to a crisis. Why does the U.K. need knife laws now that guns are gone? See what I mean? I can say what I'm saying because those nations didn't have 310,000,000 firearms. And they didn't have $100,000,000,000 drug trades.

In spite of all of that...our murder rates are down. We are seeing record lows. With reductions in gun control to boot. And we have seen plenty of times how gun control does not impact the murder issues. It doesn't stop mass murder. It doesnt make criminals go away. What does do that? Wholistic approaches. Things that reduce the at risk population. Education. Healthcare. Jobs. So on and so forth. Time and again they are proven to work. But nobody discusses these because they aren't silver bullets. They aren't magical things. They aren't sexy. The politicians who push them wont get the credit immediately. Where as they can push a gun ban and all of a sudden they are a hero who saved lives (or so they will say).

If you want to reduce murder rates... give people better lives. When was the last time that you saw a well adjusted suburbanite kill somebody?
