It's amazing how an election loss, even as big as this one, still doesn't put a dent in the thinking that lost it.

Serving one's country was never meant to be a lifelong career.
Why… not?

I mean I understand serving one’s country is about as alien a concept to a Trumpist as rocket science is to an amoeba but this is about as ludicrous a take as I can remember.

Poor Renee. I'm not sure why this poster didn't understand my point.

Darn right!

Thanks for all the work you have done here.

1. Maybe she didn’t know the timeframe of what was actually happening during your Great Grandfather & Great Grandmother Historic Timeframe!
Great Grandfather’s ~ Term of Office: 1/7/1913 to 1/4/1915

What was happening in 1913. A Great Historical Beginning was happening for Women!

“Women Marching in Suffrage Parade in Washington, DC” DATE ~ 3/3/1913

“In the second decade of the 20th century, suffragists began staging large and dramatic parades to draw attention to their cause. One of the most consequential demonstrations was a march held in Washington, DC, on March 3, 1913, the day before Woodrow Wilson’s first presidential inauguration. More than 5,000 suffragists from around the country paraded down Pennsylvania Avenue from the U.S. Capitol to the Treasury Building.”

“It set a precedent for future protest marches, but also brought controversy. According to the National American Woman Suffrage Association (NAWSA), all women and men were welcome to march. However, march organizer Alice Paul attempted to exclude black women from participating because she feared white women would not march alongside them. Ultimately NAWSA forced Paul to allow black women to join the procession. Some women of color – such as civil rights crusader Ida B. Wells-Barnett and lawyer Marie Louise Bottineau Baldwin, a member of the Turtle Mountain Band of Chippewa Indians – bucked the attempt to racially segregate the parade by walking alongside white women.”

“The rowdy, mostly-male crowd watching the parade pressed in on the demonstration, at times leaving barely enough room for the marchers to get by. Many women were verbally and physically assaulted while the police stood by either unwilling or unable to control the crowd. Outrage over the violence resulted in a Congressional investigation into the lack of police protection for the marchers and increased sympathy for woman suffrage.”

2. Yes! Darn Right! If, your Great Grandmother was just like you ~ She would have been ~ A Yes! Darn Right “Suffragette”!!!

3. You’re Welcome.

You missed the context of my post. I'm not sure how you even could, but here we are. I was speaking about early politicians, like my ggrandfather who didn't make a career out of being a lifer politician, but served for two years has a House Rep. in his state. We need more people like him to give service to the country. Serving one's country was never meant to be a lifelong career.
Longer term professional politicians have so many opportunities for graft and corruption.. Biden was in 50 years - not to single him out -all of DC is rife with corruption . Hunter built worldwide corrupt relationships that took care of his family under the radar for 50 years.
The corruption is so endemic it becomes a cultural norm for the 'elites'. Gravy train

I guess you don’t realize the humor here. A cultist is somebody who believes a man who has lied and misled over 30,000 times (verified) my favorite is when he said it did not rain at his inauguration, and there are videos of people opening their umbrellas and putting on rain hats
who is an elitist propagandist ?educated?professional? Well it is obvious that you are not an elitist
LOL your insane rant just proved me right.

ShoeOnHead is a progressive/socialist Youtuber who actually gets it.

She's precisely the kind of smart and inciteful progressive who the Democrats inevitably drive away.

I read tonight that 60% of people under the age of thirty like Trump.

I mean, Trump's online persona is basically young internet trash talker who just happens to be 80 years old.

"It's amazing how an election loss, even as big as this one, still doesn't put a dent in the thinking that lost it."

Bill Mayer, with a very sarcastic tone and lots of hyperbole, nailed why the Democrats lost the election. If they don't change, they keep losing. Isn't this what some of us have been saying to those who continue to double down in the defense of their team? He does not defend Trump or his supporters, just to be clear. He's telling the Democrats to stop digging their holes and learn from their mistakes. The entire party has become nothing but a Portlandia sketch. Take one week to ask what you did wrong.

Here's another excellent explanation, from a British liberal (NSFW):

Here's an angrier excellent explanation from the same British liberal of Trump's 2016 win, (even more NSFW):

Watching both it's amazing how much of his complaint is glaringly apparent here.

From all the way across the pond, and he nails it! He's pretty damn objective and oh, what a way with words. I'm going to have to follow him now over on YouTube. He's comical, and brilliant. A great combination. Thank you for sharing. :)

I've posted this recently I think, but it amazing how well this nearly 50 year old speech from the movie NETWORK holds up. The screenplay written by Paddy Chayefsky just goes to prove there is nothing new.

(Also, NETWORK is the most amazing Political/Media satire ever put on film)

It is amazing how a snarky Brit 3000 miles away has such insight into why Kamala lost. The Harris campaign should be ashamed about the results. And the millions of people who voted for her still have no clue. And the despondent Liberals/Progressive are still serving up their petulant and totally irrelevant Trump barbs as if by putting them on this website is going to make the slightest difference in the world.
Given that she ran a losing campaign I am surprised she got 74.3 million popular votes.
People want to see Trump 'drain the swamp'; get rid of DEI in schools, corporations, the military, and the government; deport illegal aliens from this country (is the Denver mayor really that friggin' stupid?); use our energy resources to make us totally independent of foreign oil imports; and use Musk/Vivek to identify and get Trump to do away with unnecessary discretionary funding.
The majority of voters want all of the above to happen.
And the Left is still in disbelief those are the things the voting public want Trump to do!!
Why was that so hard for the Dems to see?

He had a better message and that's all there is to it.

Absolutely, but there's also a certain group of haughty denialists that think they KNOW what's best.
And the Left is still in disbelief those are the things the voting public want Trump to do!!

Arrogance is preventing some of the diehard anti-Trumps from admitting that they were wrong. Not all of the left is still in disbelief though, but on this forum, for the most part it's arrogance, pretending they're the smartest people in the room. They need to come down from their high horses.

Hard to understand anything from a bunch of people who can't even explain their blind loyalty to somebody like Trump. Especially, when they simply default to "leftist, communist, Marxist, terrorist sympathizer, pedophiles" and other such mindless denigrations when they can't legitimize their following. But...OK. Let's be friends for a change. Let's just pretend that every other conservatives population throughout the world is just as crazy as what we see in America anymore. Help me understand the rhetorical:

- Why, in 2016, did most Republicans still think that Obama had no birth certificate?
- Why, in 2011, did Republicans look at childhood obesity rates and argue that tomato paste on pizza is vegetable?
- Why, in 2020, did Republicans choose Trump's clearly bad guidance over that of health officials when it came to a global pandemic?
- Why, despite Trump proving to be a godless, immoral fiend of a man, do Republicans celebrate him as a "Christian?
- Why, do Republican men see Trump, a draft-dodging coward who has a history of adultery and sex scandals, as a masculine role model?
- Why, do so many Republicans on ACA, insist that Trump destroy "ObamaCare?"
- Why, despite no evidence whatsoever, do Republicans believe that "millions of illegals voted for Hillary?"
- Why, despite all watching January 6, and while ignoring the over 120 cops bludgeoned, do Republicans pretend that it was just a "disorganized tour?"
- Why, despite Hannity, Carlson, and Ingraham getting caught texting about how easy it is to lie their viewers, do Republicans still cling to FOX News for truth?
- Why, after Reagan handed off economic disaster, after Bush handed off economic disaster, after Trump handed off economic disaster, do Republicans still think that Republicans are good for the economy?
- Why, are Republicans fond of creating imaginary wars, like "war on Christmas" or wars on your appliances?" For that matter...
- How have Republicans started every American war since 1991, celebrating two with NeoCon mismanagement, and still push the notion that Democrats are the war hawks?
- How can Republicans produce the most useless House since before the Great Depression, and still get away with pretending that they govern?

I don't need an answer to any of this. It's all rhetorical. It's just a small pile of what makes my point. But this, and so, so, so, so, so much more is what defines "the other" to me. Republicans present no real policy, because they exist only to play ideological games so that they can create a loyal base. Trickle-Down? A proven con game. NeoCon? A bust. What's left? Border security and immigration reform? They have refused and rejected all legislation since 2007. They certainly don't care about debt or job creation. It has long become the anti-Party, which is why all you heard for years from them on Capitol Hill was "WOKE!!!!" America used to be more than the dumbest retard in the country. But this is New America. It runs on irrational emotion and vast contradiction.
You do know that it was Hillary Clinton's 2008 campaign that invented the entire birther scandal. Trump was just the only
guy with enough cred to force Obama to show it.

You mean maher?

Nice try, however the real split in the GOP was during the 2016 campaign. RINOs vs populist conservatives tired of the good ole boy establishment. The republicans were not united and gave Trump minimal support. Fast forward to the 2024 race and the republicans are more united then I have seen since the Ronald Reagan era. The RINOs have been mostly dispersed and the few remaining have been minimalized.
The poster has a point

The Dems reaction to loosing is far more favorable than MAGAS running riot at the Capital. It's a part of MAGA history, one they would rather forget, understandable.

After three Trump elections, almost every traditional Democratic constituency has swung to the right. In fact, Mr. Trump has made larger gains among Black, Hispanic, Asian American and young voters in his three campaigns since 2016 than he has among white voters without a college degree, according to New York Times estimates. In each case, Mr. Trump fared better than any Republican in decades.

How Democrats Lost Their Base and Their Message - The New York Times
New York Times estimates based on demographic data from the U.S. Census Bureau; polling from the Roper Center and New York Times/Siena College; and election results from The Associated Press and the Voting and Election Science Team.

Meh, I think it's more a case of the Democrat's message didn't align with their base' issues and concerns, i.e. Democrats out of touch with near people's concerns, and were foisting their concerns onto their voter base (well, former voter base).
