Your hatred of Trump is blinding you to facts. There have been walls along parts of the border for over 100 years.

A wall is never a perfect solution but anything that inconveniences criminals is a good thing.
I lived in California as a teenager. I traveled to Mexico many times. Let me tell you about walls and how they inconvenienced the ācriminalsā.
The Mexicans would line up and at a signal a couple hundred would come pouring over running north. The Border Patrol could catch a few, but most just swarmed North.
In 1984 the Olympics were held in Los Angeles. There were a lot of jokes about it. Mexico wasnāt sending a team because everyone who could run, jump, or swim was already here. There were lots of jokes, and like most things there was an element of truth.
More than a decade later I was driving Trucks and delivering a load to San Diego. The instructions said there was a concrete dock in a field. Pull up and wait.
I did, and a guy in a Pick Up showed up about fifteen minutes later. He looked at my papers and said he would be right back.
He was back in a half hour, only now the bed of the truck was filled with men. He told them what to do and they began hand unloading 40,000 pounds of plywood. They were done about an hour later.
The guy stood near me and explained going and getting day labor was cheaper than a forklift.
I didnāt care. I was paid by the mile, and the sooner I got unloaded the sooner I could start turning miles again. All I cared about was getting that trailer empty so I could report in and get my next load.
The wall didnāt slow down the people rushing the checkpoints. The criminals were willing to do hard backbreaking labor cheaply because as bad as that was, it was better than they had at home.
These were two of the stories I experienced. Just two. There isnāt enough room to tell them all.
