True, but the Russians would appear to intend to level these large cities with artillery / tank fire. Not going to be much left if they do that.

The Ukrainians have been doing fairly well. If you consider the level of material that they have to work with, they have been doing very well.

Russian military doctrine is overwhelming force and firepower, not precision like the U.S. knowing this its clear Russia didn't expect resistance from Ukraine or they would have amassed more than 130K troops for the invasion. Overall terrible planning on the part of the Russian Military or they simply didn't think Putin would order the invasion beyond the separatist held regions in Eastern Ukraine.
