Nah, the conflict has been ongoing even before the creation of the Israeli state and well longer than the existence of Hamas.

Zionism, the movement to ethnically cleanse Palestine and create a Jewish supremacist state in it's place, is the seed of this conflict and anyone with any sense/knowledge will understand that much.

Doing to stop what?
Factually speaking the Israeli military takes great efforts to minimize civilian casualties. Every day they attack in Gaza after warning civilians to evacuate buildings.
I don't think there's any possible way to claim that the IDF operates in a less moral manner than say the US and its Western coalition did in Iraq and Afghanistan in its targeting of terrorists.
And it's also not moral to call for a nation to be stopped from defending itself against genocidal terrorists who wish to murder, rape and kidnapp all of its citizens.

I think that's what can happen in situations whereby the citizenry are indoctrinated right from childhood into believing their own supremacy over the " other".

That supremacy then becomes entrenched and deepens until atrocities and indifference to them become normalized and abhorrent actions/policies enjoy mass support, as they do in Israel today.
