Israel strikes Iran tonight.

No, it did not.

That is nonsense.

Iran is a terrorist-run country and always has been.

I am curious as to why nobody is reporting what part of Iran was hit.
Isfahan area.

The left's obsessive support for Palestine has empowered Iran to attack. They believe there are no political consequences and public opinion is on their side.

God forbid anyone supports ending apartheid.

Iran's Foreign Minister was interviewed on CNN about an hour ago (before the attacks) and he had a warning for Israel.

CNN —
Iran’s response if Israel takes any further military action against it would be “immediate and at a maximum level,” Foreign Minister Hossein Amir-Abdollahian told CNN Thursday, as fears rise of an escalation of the conflict in the Middle East.

“In case the Israeli regime embarks on adventurism again and takes action against the interests of Iran, the next response from us will be immediate and at a maximum level,” Amir-Abdollahian told CNN’s Erin Burnett in an exclusive interview in New York.

I wanted to read your comment because you are usually level headed. I came to DP because no one appears to know the truth behind the explosions yet. There is speculation, but no confirmation. I am looking for the facts.

I appreciate that, but I am no more privy and there are no shortage of choice targets that Iran has on offer. But the most significant one for Iran’s economy is the Khag Island oil terminal. Of course, if Israel did that, that would cause a major worldwide oil price shock.

Destroying oil facilities isn’t that easy (they are made out of lots and lots of hardened steel), especially with the kinds of weapons Israel has for a strike on Iran.

Okfer****sakes.
Yeah, the IDF is guided by what American leftists think.

Not unless they hit it with a nuke.

Well, the oil terminal on the island was taken out once before during the Iran-Iraq war and it took years for them to repair. Even if it is out for a short amount of time, that is devastating to their economy since most of their oil exports go through that terminal.

So far Iran is downplaying Israel's attack. That might mean they are going to dismiss the action as ineffective and not retaliate.

This theory might not age well 😁

I mean, Israel’s attack might actually be ineffective if they targeted the nuclear facilities around Isfahan. Those are largely buried or reinforced facilities that would be extremely difficult to damage without bunker busters.

It took the Iraqis a lot more than a single strike to knock Kharg out. They bombed the shit out of the whole island.

The speculation seems to be that the IDF targeted radar facilities near Isfahan. That would make sense. It's an appropriate target that would degrade Iran's ability to launch westward attacks and would result in few civilian casualties.

Oh no. Is Iran going to launch another easily intercepted attack?

I’ve read reports that the U.S., UK, France, and Jordan were all intercepting Iran missiles.

Was Israel capable of destroying what the others did on their behalf? Some analysts say no.

Which analysts? Israel has a perfectly capable Air Force and a comprehensive system of overlapping air defenses.

I didn't expect you to provide inside information. :) I relied on you not to repeat unverified nonsense that someone's neighbor told his brother-in-law and that was then posted on Twitter as fact. That may not appear at first glance to be a very high bar for a poster to meet, but I have found that it is. Posters who write based on verified information are precious.

"Twitter fact" is an oxymoron.
