What nation are you from?
An ignorant question...
I’d settle for some of you to acknowledge that Israel is an ally.
Clearly not, or I wouldn't have asked

As I previously stated, Israel didn't send any troops to support us during the Iraq War, yet they gloated about how the war benefitted them.
Look who did send their soldiers to back us up.

Your allies are those who stick with you when times are tough.
What nation are you from?
No, radical zionism is what my bible thumping family adhered to growing up. They believe Israel is a fundamental, holy, exceptional country guided and protected by god that is always right and should always be supported and protected by the US, no matter the cost or reason. They think this is important because the Jews have to be in control of the Temple Mount so that the end-times can come, which they readily welcome. That heavily aligns with Republican party doctrine. We should be looking out for OUR best interests, not the interests of religious zealots.
Putting the needs of Israel over the needs of America purely based on religious reasons is radical zionism.
What nation are you from?
I'm more interested to know if he knows how to spell it.
All that stuff about them being a desert tribe unworthy of our support didn’t indicate contempt?
When you take away the Christian end-times/revelations/people-of-god tinted lenses you end up seeing the middle east for what it really is. Various Abrahamic sects squabbling with each other over land, race, and petty religious differences.
Extremist Muslim, such as those who follow Hamas, want Israel destroyed.
As for whether it should be ethnocentric state? That's completely up to the leadership and citizens of Israel. I don't live there so it's not my problem. Personally, if they want a state that's "mostly" Jewish, I think that's fine. They're surrounded by Islamic countries that want to keep their nations "mostly Islamic" as well. I don't really feel the need to tell any of those nations who can live within their borders.
The funniest part is according g to the story Jesus is gonna pu isn't the Jews for rejecting him when he shows up.
So they want them there so they can get what's coming to them.
The Israelis know this but encourage their support anyway. Because they need American support.
The US asked Israel not to get involved. Bush called on a nearly daily basis to Shamir (then Israeli PM) so Israel won't get involved even though it was attacked by waves of Scud missiles from Iraq. He didn't want Israel's participation in the attacks to break the coalition.
You're well known for the ignorance that drives your racist beliefs but this one is quite ignorant even by those standards.
Are you talking about this? He didn't say they didn't were unworthy and didn't deserve support. You're reading things into what he said, and then you inferred that he doesn't support Israel and is possibly an anti semite.
Ummmmmmm, every American president I know of has always supported Israel.
If you don't think there's a racial element to the Palestian/Jewish conflict you're either woefully ignorant or intentionally dishonest.
I don't give enough of a **** to write some big explanation just to be led to a point by you. If you have a point, make it and I'll respond.
I was referring to the 2003 Iraq War. The link I originally provided seems to not work now, so here it is again.
That's your reasoning for supporting them?
To me, it is all an entrapment game. If all Israel is is a Jewish state, then any criticism of Israel is antisemitic. That is basically the position he wants to lock people into.Mike Pence belongs to a Dominionist/reconstructionist sect of Christianity not too unlike the one Ted Cruz belongs to.
Christian Zionism being what it is, it's really quite common to see support for Israel among a wide number and variety of churches, as it sets out the plan for the Second Coming of Christ, however when we get to the parallel idea that the Jews ought to be encouraged to become Christians as a means of fulfilling Biblical prophecy, we start to run across a few outlier belief systems that state that "Jews are in reality Christians who have not been perfected yet".
It doesn't stop there, because Dominionists believe that God has tasked them with forcible conversion of Jews, by the sword if need be, and the right to put to death any who refuse conversion.
This is not a secret, it's not even an open secret, it's open fact and it is preached in their sermons.
I'd just kinda like to check with the Jewish people on their feelings on the matter, because if they're not on board, then this whole "support for Israel" business on the part of the Dominionist/Reconstructionist sect boils down to a real estate squabble and nothing more.
In the meantime, Mr. Netanyahu, who is well aware of the stated beliefs of Christian Dominionists, is every bit as happy to use them as tools and useful idiots as Trump's billionaire oligarchs are.
The rest of us are outside these circles, so it's not unusual to consider the fact that the rest of us are wondering WTF is running through these people's minds.
I expressly said I didn’t think he was an anti Semite.
I was just kind of wondering about the religious views. I am not trying to lead you into making a point. I know that evangelics want a temple rebuilt, but they also talk like all Muslims want to kill all the Jewish people. Do they fear Muslims will kill the Jewish people off, so then the temple cannot be built and Jesus can't come back? I have little experience with evangelics like you, so I am just trying to understand how you think they see that entire region of the world and how it fits into the religious views.
Ummmmmmmmmmmmm. We have been an ally of Israel for many decades. Our military personnel are obliged to follow orders and die if necessary. If they don't want to be in the service then they should not enlist.
Gobs and gobs of people, like the entire American left wing (yes, that’s an exaggeration). I think Israel is targeted for many reasons, a lot of them for the same reason as the US. They’re seen as the power and it’s unfair and heck they’re probably hated by many now because they don’t hate Trump. I said early in this thread that not everyone who criticizes Israel is anti Semitic but anti Semites will always criticize Israel.
Not the "out there" type like truthatallcosts, but absolutely a leading antisemite around here. I'll refer you to the damning evidence if you'll ask for it.
