ISIS was Trump's Biggest Failure

Forget the 300,000 dead Americans on his watch, even as 3000 more die each day. After all, no one on the Right ever said they were in the business of keeping Americans safe from microbes by empowering the nanny state. I get it. Under the GOP, we are on our own. When it comes to preserving freedom, let the bodies hit the floor.

But, there was one thing they never did shut up about while Obama sat in the White House--well, actually two things, but this thread is not about the rising deficit that they suddenly decided to ignore. No, their big whine, from Fox news to Rush Limbaugh and all the battles cries in between was about the rise of ISIS. Remember? That's the terror group that Obama supposedly helped create. Yeah, them.

I know--I know--we forgot all about ISIS during the years Trump screwed things up. But, when it comes to screw ups, very few of Trump's worst can surpass the mess he left behind in Afghanistan, the area has been a hotbed of militant activity, most notably involving the Islamic State: AKA ISIS.

Why do you think we should do anything about ISIS? (beyond making sure that OUR country is safe from them)

The cult never sleeps.

ISIS is Obama's failure. Iraq was--if not stable, at least manageable--when Obama took over. I was there shortly before that period, so I have personal knowledge. An orderly withdrawal would have prevented the former Baath party from grabbing all of the military goodies we just left behind.

Indeed - the cult never sleeps. ISIS was Bush-the-Lesser's failures, not Obama's - a direct result of the mishandling of our occupation and "nation building" in Iraq. For details, see the Frontline documentary on "The Rise of ISIS".

I strongly disagree that it's trump's biggest failure. But it one of his most underrated failures.

So is the way that we stabbed the Kurds in the back. The world saw our treachery. Nobody forgets a traitor.

The biggest failure in that ISIS was the one thing the Right would not shut up about while Obama was president...well, except for the high deficit, which Trump also jacked up.

That would be the context of my reference. Letting ISIS regain a foothold is his biggest failure because it exposed the crass hypocrisy of the lying Right.
