ISIS leader Abu Bakr al-Baghdadi 'killed in US-led air strikes in Syria'
The Islamic State leader was reported to be injured in Raqqa, Syria, last week but officials could not confirm if he was fatally wounded
Islamic State leader Abu Bakr al-Baghdadi has been killed following US-led air strikes in Syria, according to reports.
A statement from a news agency linked to the terrorist organisation said: "Abu Bakr al-Baghdadi has been killed by coalition air strikes on Raqqa on the fifth day of Ramadan."
Another source claimed he died in Mosul, Iraq - another ISIS-held stronghold.
In a statement from Iraqi security forces, officers said: "Iraqi aircraft hit Baghdadi's convoy as it was moving towards Karabla to attend a meeting of the Daesh [ISIS]terrorist leaders."
The news comes after an Iraqi TV channel claimed last week that al-Baghdadi, who is believed to be in besieged ISIS 'capital' Raqqa, was hurt by a bomb released from a US-led coalition aircraft.

If true, it's about time.

Wow, it's a lot easier to hit our suspects when we aren't telling convoys ahead of time that we'll be bombing them. JFC, I'm glad he's dead but Obama's military is completely incompetent. He should have been killed a long time ago.
There doesn't seem to be any good confirmation of this.

Took a while to get Bin Laden too.
If true, this is good news. I will reserve my "way to go Obama," praise until after I'm convinced the dude's dead. Call me skeptic.
But you gotta admit, that Obama is a terrorist killin' mo'-fo'. (Well, maybe you ain't gotta admit it, but it's true.
And he does it with minimum American blood spilled. Gotta love that part. (Well, maybe you ain't gotta love that part if you prefer a good war with lot's of boots on the ground and American lives and limbs taken.)
...and someone else will take his place and continue the fight. What is needed isn't a handful of surgical strikes on a few high profile leaders, it's a focused effort to put in the ground every single person who tells anyone else what to do. It's making being a leader at any level a short-term job with a really bad retirement plan.
What?? Bush couldn't even kill bin laden. He had 8 years to do it. Obama killed him in 2 years.
Well... actually it took our Military and Intelligence assets 10 years to do it..... if you want to look at it objectively.
It's a matter of time and missiles, while IS are being pushed back there is a good chance the guy and any replacements will die a swift and fiery death.
No. It took a president who was willing to violate Pakistani sovereignty. Obama was willing to. Bush is a ***** and was not.
I can't believe this is true because Obama has yet to use his most effective weapon, the term "radical Islam." Until that phrase is uttered from his lips, no death to terrorists can occur.
Under Pres. Bush we took HUNDREDS of AQ leaders out of the equation, crippled them financially, brought recruitment to a near stop and got local leaders working with us, instead of against us. Pres. Obama has killed a few high profile people, allowed finances to flow, seen recruitment sky-rocket and have done almost nothing to gain support from local leaders. But those are facts and not hyperbole, so I don't expect them to have any influence on your little fantasy world...
Good hit but I'm sure there is someone lined up to fill his shoes.
