Is this the "average voter"?

You couldn't be more wrong. I'm not dishonest, I'm not a Republican, and I have never posted a single homophobic post on this board. I'm also not going to let you project your own malice, ill will, and nefarious intentions on me.

My concern, as my thread title suggests, is the uninformed voter. How could this woman have not known that Mayor Pete is gay? How many people are going to show up at polls with this little familiarity with the candidates?

All of your posts that criticize politicians criticize Democrats, not Republicans. All of your posts on issues take the Republican point of view. Why do you continue to hide from your brand?

Your OP dropped as soon as results dropped showing Buttigieg doing well in Iowa. Phony evangelicals hate the LGBT community. It should be very clear to every poster that these OPs are what await every Democrat from every Republican.

So much for the request to civility.

I saw that earlier and, basically, there is no specific demographic or ideology that's immune from idiots. They come in all shapes, sizes, genders, races and beliefs.

Idiots, they're everywhere!!!

well this Trump supporter has no problem whatsoever with him being gay.

his would be policies though, I have issues with.

Which policies, off the top of your head? Since 1968, I have 52 years of reasons not to trust Republicans, on anything.

I'm always civil. I'm sorry that you don't understand the difference between "conservative" and "Republican," but you sadly don't. I posted this OP because Mediaite is one of the sites I check and I saw the article there and thought it would make for good discussion.

Sometimes a cigar is just a cigar.

I don’t speak for the OP. I think the point is that there are many examples of voters voting with little to no information as to why they vote the way they do.

And? We have no control of their choice, and it's their vote to do with as they please, even sell it. Again why fuss?

I think you should care because knowing what and who you're voting for is responsible citizenship.

"A well informed citizenry is the best defense against tyranny"~Thomas Jefferson

These are hairless monkeys we are speaking of. Responsibility eludes many of them, try as we like. I suggest taking a more realistic and Zen approach. I suggest buying their vote if one must insist on them being responsible.

Side note: This one of the reasons I oppose government aid of any kind, Darwin should take his toll of the stupid. Cull the herd so to speak.

You have been exposed for the Trump supporting Republican flag waving partisan hack that you are, it is time to come clean. ;p

Roughly 80 to 90% of voters........

Of course this thread started out partisan. Don’t be fooled by how it’s dishonestly camouflaged. It’s not a coincidence that this Republican OP dropped as soon as Iowa results were known.

This OP is a passive aggressive attack on Buttigieg for being gay, which we all know will be a centerpiece of the vicious and sleazy smears against Buttigieg coming from trump and his supporters.

I'm afraid to tell you.

Lots & lots & lots & lots.

Cigar-waving apparently!!!

Mediaite reports on an Iowa voter who asked if she could get her ballot back once she learned that Mayor Pete is gay. Oh, my. I know that there are some (only a few, I hope) who vote on the "cuteness" factor or who will vote strictly on gender/whatever, but how could this woman have not known? Watch Iowa Caucus Voter Find Out Pete Buttigieg is Gay

I don't ask for a partisan reason, and I hope others won't try to make this thread a partisan insult-fest. This isn't about a party; it's about truly uninformed voters on all sides.

Sad that a person's sexual preferences which are their own business would keep a person from voting for someone who's policies you agree with.

I....don't see anything resembling an attack in the OP?

It's kind of amazing anyone who would want to participate in the caucuses wouldn't know a fairly basic fact about one of the front runners, but that is the world we live in. A lot of people don't care to take the time to pay attention.

I agree, that woman shouldn't have even been out there voting if she is that uniformed. You'd have to have been in a coma, not paying any attention at all to the candidates involved to not know Pete Buttigieg was gay. That fact has no negative effect on his character or capabilities to run for office. I have nothing against him at all, he is a smart man and a patriot, also a Christian. Of course I'm not a bible thumper, so I don't hate gay people, I am tolerant and respectful of my fellow man, I only dislike corrupt politicians who lie, sleep with the enemy and put their self interest ahead of what's best for the country.

Honestly, why did they vote for him and not know? That's like the second thing i ever heard about him.

Maybe she just heard a rumor that he was a Christian.

I didn't read anything else into your original post. I agree the woman was way out there and probably knew little about any of the candidates. Why the heck did she pick Buttigieg, she must have known he was a Christian....guess that's what she voted on.

I think that those of us who take the time to participate in an online political discussion forum sometimes fail to realize how out of touch most of those around us are with kind of basic facts.

Hell, one in 8 Americans doesn't even know who Mike Pence is.

Who Is Mike Pence? 12 Percent of Americans Say They Have Never Heard of the Vice President: Poll
Completely agree...which is why polling on these issues are so worthless.

Should Trump be impeached and for what?

"Yes...because I dont like him and think he is rude."

Yeah...thats not how any of this is supposed to work.

We get the government we deserve,,,,,,,

I support respect for the Office of the Presidency, I support fair play, and I definitely wave the flag. Oh, and I also admire and am grateful for our military. Now, have any more names you'd like to call me or are you through embarrassing yourself?

Notice the ;p , my comments were made in jest.

I don't think that being gay is a preference. I have voted against candidates who flunk the character test but with whose policies I agreed, and I have voted for candidates who don't flunk that test with whom I disagree on some policies. Someone honorable is going to better represent me than a snake.

Because it is so important when deciding who to vote for who the candidate boinks in their beds...

Every voter has a choice to make.

FWIW, if it was up to me, all voters would have to pass an IQ test and be vets.....good thing it's not up to me, eh? :D

Well don't call it partisan when many people feel that lifestyle is not representative of their feelings, or their religious belief.
