But, I thought it wasn't being taught in schools?

Oh, your guys have been lying all along....got it.

You're so easily punked. Your grandchildren won't give a shit about the manfactured irrelevance that drives you

How a dark-money mogul bankrolled an astroturf backlash.

By Jasmine Banks

AUGUST 13, 2021

"...Why is the Koch network so dedicated to this cause? It is a prime example of how the network has built up an alliance between the three pillars of the right wing: the Republican Party, rich corporate elites, and conservative white and evangelical voters opposed to racial progress..."

The courts have largely upheld affirmative action in academia which the notable exception being the outlawing of quotas. However, having different standards based on race is extremely common and well documented. It is not a secret that if you are Asian and you apply to a top school that you will need to overachieve compared to your peers in order to be admitted.
And that us not a function of the law. The affirmative action laws do not require a school to differentiate based on race..rather they actual forbid it.
The problem arises in how to get diversity in the face of systemic racism.
How does one get a diverse population in academia etc when suitable minority applicants exist but are overshadowed by the advantages of another race?
For example you have 100 positions for new medical students.
You have 200 suitable candidates10 of whom are black 20 are Asian and 5 are Hispanic. Afain..all will make fine doctors..however based solely on test scores there are 100 white students that did better than the minorities..
How do you get a diverse medical class?

So you’ve disproved systemic racism in your own argument. Because you admit the sentencing is not different because of race, it’s different because a different drug with higher social costs is punished more severely
Okay thats funny...
Systemic racism means the system ends up treating minorities differently.
Cocaine is cocaine..its not a different drug nor does it have higher social costs other than how the system handles it.
For example ...costing society more in taxpayer dollars to lock up someone for 20 years ...vs 5 if it's powdered cocaine.

Riiiiiiiight.

The ENTIRE left (or right - for that matter) of America - tens of millions of people - are deliberately trying to divide America into small, hostile states.

If he REALLY believed that blather?
He was - IMO - emotionally retarded.
What utter nonsense.

Typical reporter.
Thinks they are smarter/wiser than they really are.

Thank god he is dead.
what a moronic brain dead comment.

Well...considering no comments have 'brains'.
I suppose that point has some validity to it.
Though, posting it seems rather silly.

What's next?
Are you going to tell us all that we breath oxygen?

Have a nice day.
your two months of posts have generally been the nadir of the intellectual barrel here and your comment about Broder has sunk below that

a blanket statement like that fails if there exists one person to the contrary. Who do you think will have an easier time proving their position-you or someone who disagrees?
No one who is a MAGA Cult Drumpf supporter is for bringing the country together, even if they may think they are. Supporting the one term, twice impeached LOSER is supporting his agenda, which is White Nationalism & Sexest at it's core. The antithesis of a kumbaya coming together, all for one country. No matter what they may tell themselves.

Your retort is an ad hominem?
Okaaaay.

So you have read ALL of my posts?

If I had a modicum of respect for your opinion?
That would be flattering.

But since your idea of a reply seems to consist of rage, bile, more rage, ad hominem's and a 'point' backed up by nothing of the slightest consequence (like that goofy quote you semi-posted above)?
I am afraid I do not at this time.

Have a wonderful day, gun bunny.

Education time-I have attacked your silly posts-I have not called you names. You called me a gun bunny. That is an ad hominem comment.

The laws do not forbid affirmative action as currently implemented.

"Overshadowed by the advantages of another race" is a fancy way of saying objectively more qualified. Right? College admissions is a very easy thing to track. We know the average academic credentials that get accepted. And not all minority applicants are disadvantaged. I don't need people telling me I'm a victim and deserve a place that a more qualified individual could have gotten because of the melanin levels in my skin. I also don't need people wondering if I got where I am in life because of the melanin levels of my skin.

"All will make fine doctors" is a dishonest way of saying "some individuals will make worse doctors, but we want less qualified doctors because skin color is more important."

Schools In, old man.

1) You typed the following:

'your two months of posts have generally been the nadir of the intellectual barrel here'

'ad hominem
adjective
formal

UK

/ˌædˈhɒm.ɪ.nəm/ US

/ˌædˈhɑː.mɪ.nəm/

(of a criticism, etc.) directed against a person, rather than against what that person says:
an ad hominem attack on his rival
I'm not going to be swayed by ad hominem arguments attacking me instead of supporting your own position.'

More examples

What you said WAS an ad hominem.

Plus...your point was completely off topic and was borderline trolling.

2) Gun Bunny is not an insult.

'gun bunny
Gun bunny is military slang for soldiers who operate mortars (typically 60mm and 80mm). The weapons are normally placed in small pits dug by the soldiers. Hence the comical allusion to rabbits.'

You claimed earlier that you were a 'gun expert'.
I was merely complimenting you.
Sheesh...you cannot even take a compliment.
🙄

School is out, old man.

2a)
And before you go running to the mod's - as per usual - saying that calling you an old man is an insult?
You said you had over 40 years of law experience.
It is IMPOSSIBLE for that to be the case in America and you not being 'old'.

Anything else, old man?

The more agendas people try to put into schools just reinforces the thought that government run schools may not be the best solution.

No. CRT simply acknowledges the reality that for all of American History white Christian men have overwhelmingly controlled every institution of power and they still do. The result is a natural bias in favor of white Christian men in almost all arenas of life in America.
The second aspect of it is acknowledging the reality that while we have certainly improved and limited direct racism in our society, historical racism has a lasting impact on the modern-day, and implicit racism prevents us from correcting that.

It's like the game Monopoly. As the game progresses certain people acquire more wealth and property than others. They have the ability to use that wealth and property to leverage even more wealth and power. If you're black, your ancestors weren't allowed to play this game from the start. In fact, they were property on the board that was being bought and sold. By the time black people finally gained their freedom all the property on the board was already owned by white people. They had the "freedom" to move about the board, but it is virtually impossible for them to make it around the board without ending up bankrupt no matter how good they might be at playing it.
& if they managed to acquire some property, houses, hotels, they were cut down like Tulsa, Atlanta, Rosewood.

A teacher / professor who pushes their political or racial agenda onto their students, which far too many of them are, has failed being a teacher / professor.
This is pretty much the center of the 'indoctrination in education' issue, which includes the 'CRT in the classroom' issue as well.

Jeeez a failed thread from June exposing nutters who have no clue what CRT is being all triggered by the false narratives made up about it is getting traffic again?
LMAO i love the posted triggered meltdowns on this topic
😂🍿

stop lying,
ad hominem.
Calling him a liar.

Plus, unless he admits it.
It is IMPOSSIBLE for you to know if he is lying or not.
By definition.
you just are playing your normally stupid game of demanding proof of stuff you know is true
I have yet to see you post a link my ENTIRE time here (so far).
So it seems your statement is rather hypocritical.

The laws do not forbid affirmative action as currently implemented.
Actually they do.
"Overshadowed by the advantages of another race" is a fancy way of saying objectively more qualified. Right?
Well not really. I was a professor and I am currently oversee the clinicals for clinicians.. assistants and doctors. The most qualified, and best candidates are often NOT the ones that score the best on the MCAT or had the highest test grades. Too many other variables.
College admissions is a very easy thing to track. We know the average academic credentials that get accepted.
Yep
And not all minority applicants are disadvantaged.
Now that is true. Thats why honestly it should be based on financial status. Those most disadvantaged.. white, or minority should get preference. As long as minorities are economically disadvantaged at a higher rate, conceivably this will increase the number of minorities that NEED a leg up to make up for economic disadvantage.
The problem is that schools don;t want to have students that can;t pay their way. Better to have wealthy minorities.. versus poor ones.
I don't need people telling me I'm a victim and deserve a place that a more qualified individual could have gotten because of the melanin levels in my skin.
Who say you do?
I also don't need people wondering if I got where I am in life because of the melanin levels of my skin.
Thats going to happen no matter what. Just like a women in a position of power will be thought to have slept her way to the top.
"All will make fine doctors" is a dishonest way of saying "some individuals will make worse doctors, but we want less qualified doctors because skin color is more important."
Not at all. Being a good doctor doesn;t correlate well with higher test scores after a certain point. In fact.. in many cases.. the ones with the highest test scores can make the worst doctors. (that being said from someone who graduated at the top of my class in highschool, college and my medical training.).

She's very well educated and wants to bring us back together. Interesting that people who know absolutely nothing about Dr. Borisenko, who doesn't see life through the racial lens, are doing their usual divisive Trump schtick.

Just to comment on the Trump part. Trump is a morally bankrupt lying moron who has basically failed at business and failed at leadership.

So, anyone who is a die-hard Trump supporter has a screw loose. So, no I don't agree with her and won't give it much thought.

well without getting into a debate on some of your claims, I note an example I am familiar with. The top graduate at Yale in 1980 in terms of pure scores for a medical school application was a guy who had a BS/MS in molecular biochemistry and a pure 4.0. he lost the "Snow prize"(the award to the top scholar overall in a class) to a guy with the same degrees and GPA (that guy got a Rhodes as well but was also captain of a varsity team and now teaches at Yale Med) but he won the hard science award and allegedly had the highest score on the MCAT anyone had seen. He was turned down at Harvard Yale, Cornell and Columbia medical schools-went to a top also ran. Apparently his interviews sank him. I never knew what sort of doctor he became but due to lack of news in the alumni magazine, I assume he didn't set the medical world on fire

My last post might have been too long for you.

So, since you clearly do not know what 'ad hominem' actually means?

Here is a link that should help you with that.

Don't mention it...my pleasure.

Have a nice day.
take it up with the moderators. Personal attacks are against the rules. attacking stupid posts as lies or being stupid, I don't believe is a violation.

This is absurd, they may well be challenging students to think, which is what education is all about. All teaching is political - based on what the teacher decides to include or leaves out.

Young people should be trusted to make their own conclusions about what they learn. They aren't idiots.
