Is there anybody here who doubts...

He's already said he would, talking about creating a third party. He was the one Republican in the 2016 debate to refuse to say he'd support whoever the Republican nominee was.

The spectre of TDS rears it ugly head yet again here on DP.
It's a serious condition and shouldn't be taken lightly.

that if the GOP turned away from Trump, he would act to destroy the party?
That's as stupid as asking, if the DNC turned away from Pelosi, would she act to destroy the party?

I will say, again, I was wrong about Republicans on the issue of trump. I gave them way too much credit to see through him and to have some values. The idea how they'd humiliate themselves to be his cult is a surprise. I thought they had more dignity and rationality, not much but a bit. Then I thought when he took office, his actual presidency would make them wake up how they were conned in the election. Nope. Only a few.

Parties turn away from leaders all the time, especially after they lose. You have your Joe Leibermans who turn around and run third party, but they don't have active vendettas against their party, as surely Trump would..

Nobody honest would ever doubt that because he has already done it in flashes 🤷‍♂️

Lieberman was never a "leader" of the Democratic Party. He was a member who went along with the party...most of the time. He didn't do anything...as Pelosi has...to control the party.

Pick another example. ( or use mine)

Let it all burn.

Maybe if the GOP falls the DNC will also.
That would not bother me as long as the country had real Liberal voices and real Conservative voices fleshing out the political reality of the country. As it is today, there are few real Conservative voices. Trumphumpers are not Conservative yet they run the GOP, what used to be the home of the Conservative voice in this country. We have real Liberals. We have real Progressives. Conservatism in this country is currently a wasteland and I don't want to hear that it still lives in Trumplicans....ITS DEAD!!! or at least hibernating.

As already stated, he's been shown to turn on his own allies. This, and that he publicly announced to the chairwoman of the Republican National Committee, he was leaving the GOP and creating his own political party - and that he didn't care if the move would destroy the Republican Party.

H was the party's nominee for VP. You can't get much higher than that.

LOL!!

Do you think Harris was ever a "leader" of the Democratic Party? Do you think Pence was ever a "leader" of the Republican Party?

How about Biden, when he was Obama's VP? Hell...Biden isn't even a leader of the Democratic party now.

The Democratic party is dead, too. The commies have taken over.

Didn't Trump already attempt this on Jan 6, when he tried to kill Mike Pence?

No one should have any doubts about this, especially after Jan 6.

I wish they would. He'd form a third party (he has already made the threat) and split the vote so they couldn't win a election for dogcatcher.

C'mom, Mycroft, Pelosi is a tough savvy politician, but what is there in her record that suggests she would act in a way the poster (and I) assumes Trump might?

That's why the OP's question is a stupid question.
