Is there a heaven?

You should look in the mirror and say that to yourself
I don't have to. I have never in my life personally commented on a person's faith. I don't care if they are religious or what religion they follow. It's none of my damn business and unlike you I'm not "bothered" about it.

Then.....you shouldn't care that I answered the OP - and those who quoted me - the way I did!

After all, I didn't tag you, did I?

MYOB.

DBANBB!

Nobody's forcing you to listen or read.

You can tune us out.
When you read the OP - you know what this thread is going to be about. You could get out of the thread, you know.
You don't have to hang around like as if you're tied down to it.

That simple.

Answering your question is different from skipping a thread. I was talking about Christians imposing your religion on rest of us.

How is that confusing to you, I have no idea.

I am bothered though, of the attempt by some, to control and censor.................. Freedom of Expression.

Noone is controlling / censoring your freedom of expression.

Well I don't understand that word salad.

I am not surprised since you started off by saying

"I think we are only bothered when your God is being imposed on us."

means I should tune out your threads.

Lol - 9/11 is nothing compared to the biblical apocalypse.

Nor did I say it was. But 9/11 hijackers had the same mentality as you and thus not valuing life much - since heaven was awaiting for them after this brief period of "life on earth".

But what I do know for a fact - if atheists happen to be right that there is no after life - you won't even know about it - and they can't gloat that they were right!

I don't care about gloating. And if I did, I am free to do it right now.

Whereas - if Christians turn out to be right (and we are) - though we won't be gloating - we can surely chorus to atheists...............

You can believe what you like. See.

..........WE TOLD YOU SO!

LOL. Sure sounds like gloating. And a dumb one at that considering how much nonsense you believe. 😂🤣😂🤣

Sure you're free to gloat about there being no GOD and no heaven right now.

BUT.........................wouldn't you look silly............especially so when you have nothing to offer as a support for your atheistic belief?
Kinda makes me think of a guy who's laughing his heart out.................but doesn't know WHY! 😁

As I've explained, no one is imposing it on you.

If you don't believe in the afterlife, or heaven - then, don't!
That simple.

Have I accused you of imposing your belief on us?

How is expressing one's opinion an imposition............................... when you have the choice to either, take it or leave it? Duh.

I think........ freak-out queens don't want to be handed down that choice - whether to believe there is GOD, or no.

They're scared stiff of the responsibility of having to choose.

You would not know if I have anything to offer. But whatever I have, you clearly would not accept it because of your delusions.

Yep, that's what you basically make me think of too.

As I've explained, no one is imposing it on you.

You did not explain anything. I never implied threads on this DP board are any kind of imposition.

If you don't believe in the afterlife, or heaven - then, don't!

Of course it is.

Have I accused you of imposing your belief on us?

I don't recall at the moment. Maybe not.

Jesus tells us in scripture that he has prepared a place for the saved. For he has a mansion with many rooms.

John 14:2
In my Father’s house are many rooms. If it were not so, would I have told you that I go to prepare a place for you?
It amazes me how modern English translations botch such a beautiful verse.

John 14:2 KJV In my Father's house are many mansions: if it were not so, I would have told you. I go to prepare a place for you.

“Don’t worry about tomorrow, just be real good today”……

A friend told me once religion is our brain's defense mechanism to grapple with death. I thought it was an interesting thought and have come to agree with it.
That also explains NDEs. Its all about the brain. Heaven is just one of those imaginary things we tell others or ourselves to help cope with the reality of death.

Except religion is just a healthy humans way of not fearing death down the road in their own mind.
Its also and more importantly a way to cope with the deaths of loved ones. Knowing, or believing, that you will one day see them again provides great comfort during times of grief.

In this case you seem to be saying that the brain is capable of performing an act of charity. I find that hard to believe…..it is like having a power over the inevitable. Why intervene if there is no consciousness or life in death ? For the record I believe in heaven.

I read this some two years or so ago and saved it. I thought I’d post it because I thought it was very interesting and insightful.

Is there a heaven after death?

There's no way to know for sure; No one has been dead for a lengthy amount of time and have come back to tell the tale. Those who were dead only for a few moments have reported similar instances of floating down a tunnel towards a light with all the worries being nullified, but even these have slightly different interpretations depending on which individual is giving the experience.

I doubt many of these people were lying about seeing something beyond their grave, but it's also possible this was an experience their brain was defaulting to in the final of final moments before they fully succumbed to their non-existence, sort of like a dream. It's also possible they truly didn't experience anything, but their brain inserted those memories after they woke up to help make sense out of what happened to them- After all, being told you almost died is no doubt a traumatic experience on some level.

It's possible the subconscious soul truly does exist and perhaps when we die, our soul constructs an experience that we would most want to feel, or what we think we most deserve to feel. After all, there's no way to confirm or deny that the life we're experiencing right now is that very world. For all we know, our current world exists only in our heads. This may be a rather dark thought to such a simple question, but perhaps there is a much more harsh and unfair world that exists beyond this one, and our brain was so unable to handle the reality of our existence, that it forced itself into some sort of coma, and the current world we are experiencing is one manifested by our brain to help make our life bearable. After all, what about those times you think you see something out of the corner of your eye but suddenly it's gone? Have you ever heard a strange noise or think you hear someone call your name, but you can't pin where it came from? Or maybe we get close to waking up and experience some sort of dizziness before our brain snaps ourself back into our made up reality.

I know I've said a lot, and little is related to the actual question, but my main point is that if heaven is real, it is probably on some level of existence that's beyond our understanding of consciousness. Consciousness is something we can never truly understand- Take dreams for instance. It's hard to understand how we can have dreams where reality is so different than what we know it to be, and yet while we were in the dream (unless if we lucid dreamed), we were so certain that that reality was the true one.

Even if nothing exists beyond the afterlife, there's nothing scary about being in an eternal unconscious state, identical to what we feel before we're conceived, under anesthetics at the doctor, or asleep but haven't begun dreaming yet.

Regardless of what lies beyond the grave, and regardless of whatever God(s) may be watching over us, I have a hunch that it's all going to be okay

God?

yes I am.

I was raised by sadistic Catholic nuns who had a special relationship with yardsticks. Most priests I have known are horrible people, more than a third of Catholic priests have committed sex crimes, all but ONE pastor I have known had 'extra marital' sex with a parishoner.

I have attended about 60% of courses needed to become a legitimate pastor. It was during those (expensive) studies I learned there is no god, the whole ****ing thing is an invention to control others. (If you think about it, the creation story is absurd! ONE MAN and ONE WOMAN? The dumbest farmer in history knows you need at least two females or your bloodline fails.

We are born, often by accident and unwanted, we suffer pain simply by growing a body, we wear out fast and in decline suffer more than any other animal. We are endowed with a small organ that controls an important aspect of our bodies - blood sugar. The organ is the smallest in the entire body and DESIGNED to fail in 70 to 100 years.

So, the pevalence of diabetes in 60 and older is 75%!!!! Somebody didn't want us to live that long!

Yet we believe we are 'special', that the most powerful force in an incomprehensible universe created us at an extreme edge of a galaxy in that universe for .............?

No.

We are a biological accident that somehow produced advanced self awareness and are so arrogant to believe we are 'one of' and special.

Half correct. Your soul goes to Heaven not the body but your soul.

Have you a picture of a soul?

What proof do you have that one even exists? Ho do you know my dog doesn't have a soul.My Canary sure sounds like it has a soul when it hits the notes!

No, this is just an extension of the bullshit used to control the masses for all the ages

Imagine there's no heaven
It's easy if you try
No hell below us
Above us, only sky
Imagine all the people
Livin' for today ☮️

Your translation of the Bible makes sense?

When we die we will.
Most will live right here on earth, as the humans we were created to be...

Just a little while longer, and the wicked will be no more;
You will look at where they were,
And they will not be there.
But the meek will possess the earth,
And they will find exquisite delight in the abundance of peace." Psalm 37:10,11

"The righteous will possess the earth,
And they will live forever on it." Psalm 37:29

"The righteous will possess the earth,
And they will live forever on it." Psalm 37:29
I havent met many righteous christians, most of them are mean spirited, self centered, judgemental assholes.
