Is there a difference in order of siblings?

I'm retired and no longer wear a watch. For all I know it's not that "it's 5:00 somewhere", it could actually be 5:00 here.
My Dad is 93, lives in an ALF and still wears a watch...he's a stickler for time, always has been...if I say I'm comin' to see him, "Well, what time do you think you'll be here?" If I'm 5 minutes late, "Well, where have you been?"...lol...

My boss retired a few months before me. The day he retired he took off his watch and traded his smartphone in for a flip phone.

I thought the watch idea was cool so gave mine up. Ironically I got a watch as a retirement gift but I gave it to my nephew.

The smartphone I can't give up. It's so useful for travel and there's much work that needs to be done on Debate Politics.

Oh, and he was the oldest...most responsible of the 4...expected things a certain way and you'd better toe the line or else...

I think it is very freeing, being retired and doing what I want when I want...I just cannot convince Dad of that...he still keeps a schedule...

Work...you do know that is a 4 letter word, @Allan...lol...

When I was young I had the most compassion for friends with older sisters. If they had more than one older sister it was horrifying.

You say "afternoon drunk" like it's a bad thing. 😁

It is if it's a scotch habit that starts at 2 p.m. every day.

Some people need structure and purpose in retirement. I'm more laid back about it.

Off topic a bit but an interesting story about retirement. In Vancouver a couple retired at the same time. They decided they would be disciplined about getting their day started. They'd get up, get dressed up and go for breakfast at the local Sheraton Hotel.

The wife passed away and when Sheraton renovated the restaurant they named it "Harold's". The walls were covered in posters with Harold photoshopped in (Harold with The Beatles etc).

I haven't been back to Vancouver in about 10 years but the last time I was there Harold was at his usual table, in a suit and tie.

That's crazy! Suit and tie? FTR I am also the oldest and even though I was much like my Dad when younger, after retirement, I've mellowed, much more laid back for sure...

From a parents perspective my first one was spoiled and held like she was a glass doll and fed the best wholesome food. The second reaps from my experience and gets to explore more, and eat what she likes, my third, I couldn't even find him half the time. lol I'm glad he made it!!
