The dock workers union head is a backer of Trump and has even been invited and attended do's at Mar a Lago. It makes you wonder why a strike at this time, right before a presidential election which could end up helping Trump and hurting Harris. Makes you question whether this strike is about money for the troops or political gain for the union head and his friendship with Trump?

One thing is for sure the strike has Biden between a rock and a hard place. Order them back to work and tick off the unions or let this hurt the economy. Given the offer they turned down it smells political.

A president cannot order private sector employees to go back to work.

It’s a mafia organization so at the end of the day it’s probably about illicit activity.

Edited to add.......I think that's the name of act but I could be wrong. I'll check further
Yes, in the case of this union, that might be employed, but this close to an election...which is why it likely is a political act on the part of the Trump buddy.

Ports are generally owned by 'port authorities' which is part of the goverment.

I think you need a leaker with a recording to make this CT stick.

Good luck.

The strike is 100% about getting a good contract for dock workers. I don't think it has anything to do with politics. However if it goes too long Biden may have to carefully get involved in order to help settle this.

Longshoremen are private sector employees.

If a deal isn't struck in short order, that is a likely outcome which could actually favor Biden with some voters. That will buy something like 90 days and some will view as fighting to keep the economy churning and get it past November. Of course he will tick off the unions if he goes this route so I imagine everything will be weighed against what gives Trump the least advantage.

I pretty much agree with you except to say I think Biden will make his decision on what's best for the country and/or in keeping with his values not what does or does not give Trump an advantage.

Agree to disagree on that one. (y)
