Two white Senators in congress and a bunch of white men and women in the states are moving this country back to the 1950's when it comes to voting rights for those of color. People laugh at those who mention Jim Crow laws, but for us that lived in the south before integration, we see it as clear as day. What happened to this country that we are so willing to make it so hard for some people to vote? Are we going down a real slippery slope to what the country was like for those of color when it comes to voting because as at least one GOP congressman has said, they will our white cultural heritage? I would like to say this was all the fault of Trump, but it is not. It is the racism that permeates many of our countrymen.

OK I'll bite. In what respect is voting today in the south similar to voting in the '50s, wrt to restrictions on blacks?

And what do you suggest? Quotas?
There is nothing dumber than such measures. Such positions should be on a competitive basis, not on the basis of color.

If the Democrats don't pass voting rights, they can probably plan on long term minority status.

It sounds ironic.)))
And aren't they like that anyway?))) I'm sorry, I couldn't resist.

The 50's to right wingers is when murica' was MAGA. Women were in the kitchen, blacks were in the back of the bus and eating at the other end of the counter, gave the right of way to the white man walking his way on the sidewalk and couldn't purchase property where they wished, commies were being rounded up, grade school kids mastered "duck and cover" under their desks for when the Ruskies nuked us, bomb shelters in back yards. Good times..

We don't need new laws. What we need is for laws to be enforced. Remember what Eisenhower and Kennedy did? Anyone?
