That state has a bicameral legislature.

It wasn't easy to find an article that wasn't some sort of cry-baby, pro union editorial, but this one's decent.

MADISON, Wisconsin — Wisconsin's assembly early Friday passed a controversial bill which aimed to cripple the state's powerful labor unions, as pitched battles between organized workers and cash-strapped state governments spread across the United States.
In a middle-of-the-night vote meant to elude thousands of protesters who have swarmed the state Capitol building here, the Republican-led lower chamber voted to strip public worker unions of power to bargain over anything other than their wages.
The move came at the urging of the state's new governor Scott Walker, who has said that he wants to remove collective bargaining to give the government flexibility to avoid layoffs.

It passed the General Assembly. Still has to make it through the Senate. The Dem Senators have also fled the state....so who knows then? But, in lieu of passage, layoff notices are on their way.
That's the thing, isn't it? The so-called pro-labor union supporters would rather some lose their job altogether than give up their fat benefits.

No, this package is to also lower wages, cut the pension which has been saved by those workers back to smaller amounts and cut out the part of health care the state pays. Let's not forget, if Walker would not have handed the man who bought his governorship, Cavid Koch< $147 Million in tax cuts and breaks, there would be no budget crisis in Wisconsin. This is strictly to pay back David Koch for buying the ads to put Walker in office. Once Walker cuts this deal and gets rid of collective bargaining, he'll begin to cut state wages so the Koch brothers and their multiple businesses in WI can pay less wages to their workers, as well.

Tax cuts are not giving anybody anything, it's allowing people to keep more of what they earn.

You think cutting taxes doesn't raise your debt? You MUST be republican. And we all earn money. But we have roads to pay for, dams to fix, bridges to repair to take care of our country and educate our children, take care of our poor and sick. Or do you think on corporate socialism, giving subsidies (tax dollars) to oil companies, corporate farmers and coal tycoons is the only taxes you should be paying for?

And you think you're just entitled to the money others make. You must be a Democrat. The answer to our debt is not squeezing more tax money out of us, it's spending less. Not every federal program needs to be preserved or expanded.

My country is entitled to a chunk of everyone's money for keeping this nation with armies, and ports and security checks at points of entry and roads and rails and border patrol. You want to play the worn out and proven to be totally false lie that the rich earn their money then defend the fact that they get more in government welfare checks than the poor get in this nation of the fact that the income for the rich increased over three times the amount from 1979 to 2007 which the middle class barely rose.

The government protecting the rich and making them richer is not helping this nation. What part of our country sliding down the ranks in standard or living since Reagan don't you get? What part of taking our jobs that allowed families to be supported in this nation and buy American products is a BAD idea? Why should we pay for corporations to give our jobs to communists like the republicans created and still support?

Republicans ran this nation to the ground having control of the House and Senate from 1994 - 2006, then refusing to override the numerous vetoes gave democratic bills to help American workers from 2007 and 2008, THEN creating the MOST filibusters in this nation from 2009 - 2010. And now, controlling the purse strings in this nation, the republicans don't even TALK about generating jobs for Americans...just giving those tax breaks to corporations sending jobs to the communists.
