Were the pilgrims on a work visa?
Left unchecked, yes. That's part of the "natural law" that Thomas Hobbes described. That's why we need governments to protect targeted groups and individuals.
Gentrification is equivalent to genocide of Native Americans?? Wow, that escalated quickly.
It has the same result without the diseases and violence......................... Displacement.
True.
But that in no way changes the FACT that's it's a tad crass to complain and vilify immigration as a US citizen.
There were no laws then in regards to immigration and who was let in.
Dude, genocide and rising housing costs induced by gentrification are not even in the same league. Not even close.
OK. But now there are laws. So now, illegal immigrants are the scourge of America, responsible for all of our ills, etc etc etc, right?
That's the OP.

I'm pretty sure the natives considered European immigration as illegal. They did after all band together and fight us to the death.
DUDE........................same ****ing thing without the violence and diseases as I already stated.
You liberals hate having darkie move in..................period!
Liberals are so full of **** when it comes to immigration, race, and actually walking the talk.
Somewhere in your bizarre rants against gentrification lies a good point. I think.
Now if you could express that point in a more civil manner, you might find that, believe it or not, we just might have a little common ground on this issue.
I promise to cut back on the sailor speak as you are certainly one of the many posters on here that I hold in respect, and maybe you could hold back on a few assumptions?
American Indians didn't tolerate each other very well either..................long before the Euro's ever came here.
And neither did the English who first colonized America. What's your point?
The point was already made earlier.............read the thread.
They fought each other to the death before the European.
Got anything else?
OK, let's try.
The thing is, I do believe that gentrification does displace poorer residents, and rarely are they given a satisfactory place to go.
But almost never is this displacement a physically hazardous journey like it was, say, for the Trail of Tears. Neither are cops going in with weapons of war to drive them out. Instead, the buildings are condemned and built over once everyone is out.
So because native tribes had internal clashes that means what? There can't be such thing as illegal immigration from other countries? There is no rule of law? It's okay to take their land by force?
I'm curious, did Europeans ever fight each other to the death?
How did the Europeans get to take over Europe?
Should we all cry?
Just kind of bizarre that you think the law of white man is sacred but it's okay for whites to violate the same native laws because they'll murder you if you disagree, lol.
How did the Europeans get to take over Europe?
Should we all cry?
Not a single piece of land in the New World was possessed by the original inhabitants when the first Europeans showed up, so I have a hard time getting upset about tribes which had done unto others as they were done unto getting kicked around by a bigger fish.

Is immigration more offensive than imperialism?
Yes, we should.
It also kind of devalues our beloved property rights if all property can be taken by force without shedding a tear .
