ANN ARBOR, MI – A federal lawsuit was filed this morning against U.S. Treasury Secretary Henry M. Paulson, Jr. and the Federal Reserve Board to stop all bailout funds from going to American International Group, Inc. (“AIG”). According to the lawsuit, the U.S. government, through its ownership of AIG, is not only violating the Constitution, but also promoting and financing the destruction of America using American tax dollars.

What a ridiculous assertion. The articles entire claim that AIG "funds terrorism" is that it

To help achieve these objectives and with the aid of federal tax dollars, AIG employs a three-person Shariah Advisory Board, with members from Saudi Arabia, Bahrain, and Pakistan. According to AIG, the role of its Shariah authority “is to review operations, supervise its development of Islamic products, and determine Shariah compliance of these products and investments.”

That apparently means that it supports Sharia, and since lots of terrorists also support Shariah, AIG apparently funds terrorism.

Seriously, Invayne?

Seriously, Kernel. A LAW FIRM is saying that...I merely report.

Why did you post such idiocy if you don't believe or agree with it?

It's not idiocy, and quite frankly, I DO agree with it. Duh.

Why do you feel it's idiocy? You have a soft spot in your heart for Shariah Law?

Then what was the purpose of your second post?

Why do you feel it's idiocy? You have a soft spot in your heart for Shariah Law?

I would call accusing a firm with thousands of employees of 'funding terrosim' because it has a three person board devoted to ensuring that products comply with local laws idiocy, yes.

You know, if you're not going to watch the video or read the article, then just step away, mmmmkay?:2wave:

The Thomas Moore Law Center is challenging the federal takeover of AIG using federal money. The reason they are challenging it is because they claim AIG is funding terrorism. The reason they claim that AIG is funding terrorism is that it has a three person advisory board that ensures services rendered in areas that implement Shariah comply with Shariah, which is idiotic. Since you claim that I did not read the article, please quote the section of the article that contradicts what I just wrote.

:2wave: (<-- that makes this post more credible, right?)

GWB's chief of his Defense Policy Board actually raised money for an Iranian terrorist group. Direct connection, no abstract 3rd party connection like in this silly case. The exact same guy tried to sell US military communication lines to a known front from the Chinese military intelligence against the objections of the FBI and the NSA.

These sorts of thing are the big fnords and actual events. The suit that you have posted is just silliness and a fine example of logical fallacy.

I was expecting something like school of Americas or the Contra affair under Reagan, two actual examples of state funding of terrorism.

This seems...extremely weak.
