Is Letitia James an idiot?

1. Of course, I do not know the answer to the thread question.

2. But I do know that the distinguished attorney general is one lucky individual.

a. She came along at the right time in American history, so she was chosen by voters who wanted to show how enlightened they were.

3. So it does not matter what the lady said about Apple TV -- or anything else.

4. If she can get The Donald convicted, don't be surprised if she becomes the Vice President along with President Kamala Harris.

The direction we are headed with pro sports will eventually see just about everything as exclusive coverage higher priced limited access networks and/or ppv.
Yeah, I'm really curious when this will come to a head. Right now sports is pretty frustrating to watch given the many deals sports leagues have struck with various linear and OTT services. It's far more frustrating to watch sports than regular content because it's franchises that are spread out over various services; like trying to watch a show where the episodes are on different services and you have to pay for each.

More idiocy. A Right Wing sports nut created the thread.

FYI, the world needs more sports nuts. Especially in the sports section here. ;)

Come over and join us. After all sport is nothing but my tribe vs your tribe, just like politics.

I don't think so. As streaming platforms have just, last month for the first time, taken over a larger part of the market over cable TV they are already experiencing a big pushback as each service is an individual charge and exclusive. As they grow this pressure to change is already upon them.

Who knows where it will lead, not me.

Ha ha ha! Thanks!

I live in the Tampa Bay Area and go to sporting events on the regular: Rays games, Bucs games (season tickets) and Gator games (usually requires driving to Gainesville FL). Going to see the Bucs v. Packers in Tampa tomorrow.

My cable TV package includes most of the sporting events I want to watch, no extra charge. On rare occasions, when not on cable TV for free, my techy wife can usually stream the event for free, or God forbid, I pay.

Meanwhile, my Right Wing sports-minded brother-in-law buys a minimum service cable TV package, lacks techy skills and misses out unless my wife or one of his techy adult children stream it for him.

My brother-in-law, with two adults sons, renovates homes for me. I often treat him to sporting events.

This thread, IMO, tries to make a mountain out of a mole hill.

My guess is more consolidation; I don't see the current model as sustainable given that we've reached a plateau with subscriber growth. From the onset of OTT's proof of being an effective media model, the direction's been pretty clear; it was just a matter of when growth and profitability were going to peak. We've definitely hit the point where endless funding directed at just subscriber growth is no longer the focus. Now it's all about cost reduction to ensure profitability and greatly reducing subscriber churn.

Yes, I even have streaming services for women's college soccer and high school football. ESPN plus, ACC, Big 12, Big 10... networks, NBA League Pass, all stations available on cable, FS1, MSG, I don't even know all the call letters. It's very rare I cant get a game I am interested in.

This time of year, especially on a Friday or Saturday night, it is common for me to have several screens working.

TV, PC, IPad, even phone if needed. LOL

Nothing, that's what.

I absolutely hate that the Yankees have sold some games to Prime, some to Apple and some to the major networks but my unhappiness needs to be directed where it belongs, at the Yankees.

OK, they get a bigger pay day now and then but it loses me as a fan, a 60 year fan watching on local networks.
Loss of volume is almost always a consequence of raising prices (which is what this move effectively does). The trick is to find the optimum balance between price and volume.

It forces consumer choice into the Apple ecosystem.
It does nothing of the kind. You are not "forced" to watch Yankees baseball, and if you choose to you are not "forced" to subscribe to Apple. Another game on another day will be on a different network.

Even still, if the Yankees elected to put all their games on Apple it would not be unfair to you. It's their product, not yours.

Ahh yes that whole “libertarian” version of the word force.

No, just a worldview that has something you lack: respect for private property.
Yup, I prioritize people over stuff. I’m proud of that fact too.

Apple is a for-profit business. She is saying a company offering a game for free should forfeit its rights to the game, which they paid for in favor of cable tv?

Wow.

The issue would be is that people have paid to watch 162 Yankee games.
And are now being cut out certain games.

There is probably not much to be done about it.

It shows though that:
1. . Ms. James is in it for the publicity

2. The stupidity of the MLB commissioner

I hope that he doesnt put dijon mustard on a hot dog or his career will be over.

Bertman's stadium mustard would be a better choice.
That mustard is pretty amazing.

Perhaps apple and the sportsball team should share a beer

I love Bertman's and every time I visit my sisters it is one of the requests to bring out of state. Mustard, trail bologna, and cinnamon rolls from Troyers.

It costs privacy and should not be necessary.

Walk me thru how this is a "political" issue/agenda?

This is fuel to the fire about the left's hatred toward capitalism and the free market.

Apple has every right to broadcast the game. They paid for the right and Letitia James is undermining Apple as a business by trying to forcefully get the YES Network to take over.

James dishonestly claimed Apple was doing this for profit yet Apple was broadcasting the game free of charge.

Letitia James has a political agenda. If she is going to lie about something like this, she cannot be trusted with her mission to destroy President Trump.

and there it is!

Make Letitia James a target for conservatives to gripe about because she is messing with their precious.

The AG, a woman sworn to serve the people of New York and tell the truth has proven she will lie for political gain.

This is a witchhunt.

We should build a bridge out of her!

So she will be indicted? Let us know what to expect, will this before or after the Kracken is released?
