Is it ok to call god, they/them?

Sounds a lot like Trump, doesn't it? Only I can save you .......
Hardly...😏

"Do not put your trust in princes
Nor in a son of man, who cannot bring salvation.
His spirit goes out, he returns to the ground;
On that very day his thoughts perish." Psalm 146:3,4

Asking as an ex Catholic who was 'taught' there is god the father, god the son and god the only ghost.

They/them?
Which god/goddess?

The three main monotheisms are definitely, undeniably, almost necessarily patriarchal. That simple fact, probably, accounts for much of western and middle-eastern history. Made God just as strong and vicious and warlike as many men wish they could be. Just the concept of 'God' is enough to put tribes against each other.

I don't know enough about non-European cultures to say whether this is true or not. But my take on it is the Romans didn't need male monotheism to build their mighty empire, nor did the Chinese or the Mongols (who arguably invented the separation of church and state.) Religion binds people together, albeit in rejection of foreign religion. Religion is a cultural phenomenon basically.

Best not to get into current events in that context though. But I'd like to note that at least Eve was made from living organic tissue, not a mound of dirt!

Well that makes sense. Women are above children, but pseudo-children of men ... and they're all above dirt.

Until they die. Then they're below dirt ...

You are aware she's a JW aren't you?
She knows the deal when it comes to females.
Lemme guess the gender of the person who told her the deal...

The good news- Gods coming back!
The bad news- She's really pissed off!

In The Beginning there was them.

26 Then God said, “Let us make mankind in our image, in our likeness, so that they may rule over the fish in the sea and the birds in the sky, over the livestock and all the wild animals,[a] and over all the creatures that move along the ground.”

And put her closest to the threats? I don't think so...

Why do you think threats are more likely to come from in front? Does the Devil walk up and shake your hand, or lurk behind you waiting for a moment of weakness?

These men we're talking about don't turn around constantly to check their woman is OK. They're not protecting her by walking in front, they're just asserting that it's the woman's role to follow not to lead.

It's hard to believe that you're defending Islam. How much of its sexist and genocidal ideology do you agree with?

I love Genesis. It's the most blatantly untrue book of the Bible. Many believers struggle to explain how it makes sense even as allegory.

Colossians 1:15 and Revelation 3:14 explain who the 'they' are...Jehovah God and His Son Jesus Christ, who is the firstborn of all creation...

"He is the image of the invisible God, the firstborn of all creation"

“To the angel of the congregation in Laodicea write: These are the things that the Amen says, the faithful and true witness, the beginning of the creation by God:"

So Jesus was born twice? Once "in spirit" and once in human form?

I'm skeptical, but I'm always entertained by your convoluted reasoning.

Yet, in the bible verse presented below, we clearly see that "And he" (Jesus Christ) "will be called"
👇

"Everlasting Father".

Isaiah 9:6

New International Version

6 For to us a child is born,
to us a son is given,
and the government will be on his shoulders.
And he will be called
Wonderful Counselor, Mighty God,
Everlasting Father, Prince of Peace.

Ancient polytheistic religions were a cultural and economic marketplace of gods. Especially in Egypt, where cities would associate themselves with a particular god or cult. Catholics are similar with patron saints. St. Patrick is associated with Ireland and the many hundreds of others can be found here.

Satan, angels, saints, trinity. Christians are blatant polytheists.

You can physically fight a threat to your woman, IF you're aware the threat is there. You can't tell if she's behind you.

You can't wriggle out of this. The Muslim fundamentalist custom of the woman walking behind, is nothing to do with the man protecting her. It's all about keeping her in her place: inferior to man. A follower, not a leader.

Do you agree with this, in Islam or Christianity? Or both?

Which God are you referring to? If you are referring to the God of the Christian Bible, insofar as I am aware, the God of the Abrahamic religions has always been referred to as a male.

And to be clear, I am speaking as a former Baha'i turned atheist. To me this is like asking whether Smaug the last of the Dragons from J.R.R. Tolkien's Hobbit was male or female, because many reptiles can change their sex over time or reproduce asexually. He was written clearly male, and is referred to as male in the book.

Jehovah created all things, including Jesus...

“You are worthy, Jehovah our God, to receive the glory and the honor and the power, because you created all things, and because of your will they came into existence and were created.” Revelation 4:11

Okay. What is your point? Genesis clearly states it was "them" in the beginning.
