Is Getting Plenty of Sunlight Good or Bad for You?

Depends on what "plenty" is. Becoming sunburned or spending too much time in the sun can be damaging and increase chances of cancer. But getting the right amount helps the body in creation of vitamin D and helps with mood.

Plenty of some for some might be substantially less than plenty of sun for others, but most people could do with spending more time outside.

As worded, it is good for you.

as with anything, the best answer is moderation.

Getting plenty of sunshine in moderation is indeed very beneficial.

What proms this question is what has me curious????

Even if you are young, be sure to always wear a hat of some kind -- even if you think it's not "cool" to do so.

Really important to shield your eyes from harmful Sun rays.

In fact, I have read that even on cloudy days, those dangerous rays get through.

I can attest to that. Some of my worst sunburns in my youth were received on mildly cloudy days spent on a lake for many hours.

Exactly!

When i lived in an area that had long winters my Native American doctor told me to go to the hardware store and buy light bulbs that imitate sunlight.
That and vitamin D helped immensely with the depression I was experiencing at the time.

i generally wear sunblock, as i don't want to look like a vintage 70s leather jacket in my 40s. however, i do really like vintage 70s leather jackets.

Well, obviously they wouldn't make tanning beds if being bombarded with the wonderful and healthy uv rays weren't good for us! Look at it this way, who looks healthier? A person with the glow of a (healthy)tan, or a pale, overweight guy showing up on the beach wearing Speedos and a stretched out, stained tank top? I think we ALL know the answer to that question, because superficial beauty = good health! Lol(kidding of course).

Depends on how much is plenty, where you live and what time of year. "Plenty" of sunlight in the Australian summer gives you skin cancer.

That's true of a lot of geographical locations. Lots of sun here in, uhm, 'staggering beautiful' Delaware will also probably lead to skin cancer at worst, and prematurely wrinkled and aged skin at best. About the only places you can go where you can't get too much sun, are Antarctica and the high Arctic, in winter.....
