I don't think Dr. Fauci is either an idiot or a disaster.

However, despite his lofty position, maintained like many "administrators" in any form of government service, his views might be a bit "politicalized" in order to KEEP his position. Despite whichever Party holds the reins of power.

Moreover, IMO he is but ONE voice, and not necessarily the correct one.

There have been several errors (as Trump pointed out), waffling about masks, waffling about various necessary steps, waffling about vaccine productions. IMO always trying to maintain a balance between supporting the holders of the current Administration while not risking replacement by a new Administration after November 2020.

Meanwhile, there are many other "medical experts" who dispute his positions, and argue for other options.

So unlike others, I choose not to put all my intellectual eggs in one basket trusting one "expert" over another in the battle of the experts.

I want to know what the consensus is, and how it is moving one way or the other as more data comes in.

I also chose OTHER because it is clearly other.

When one asks Fauci if he and Trump do not agree, Fauci says no.
Ask Trump if he and Fauci do not agree and he says at times they do not.
So when one official says yes and the other no it appears to be a conflict.

Normally you can resolve this by naming each of the issues to agree on and factor in others that both do not agree on.

Fauci was not interested in stopping China from infecting us. Fauci is presented as the hero by the Media.
Fauci first spoke against Masks. I do not recall Trump ever speaking against masks.
