Raducanu, 18, won 6-0 6-1 against world number 41 Sorribes Tormo as her overseas Grand Slam debut continued with an extraordinary win in New York.

well her road got a lot easier as Shelby Rogers-down 5-2 in the third, came back to take out Barty in a tie breaker. It would be nice to see England have a decent lady player-I believe Virginia Wade was the last one they had. the lovely Laura Robson won the Juniors at the all -England club and looked like she was going to be the real deal but that didn't happen

Seems like Barty has a bad record at Flushing Meadows so I'm not going to read much into her loss. I think the Shelby-Rogers game will tell us a bit more about Raducanu's future. Crossing my fingers it's good.

I was fascinated by her run in NY also. Looked for info on her. Born in Canada to a Romanian father & Chinese mother
who moved to Britain when she was 2. There are two 18 year olds who have as good a chance as any to win.

That Medvedev game is done with Evans saying Medvedev was simply on another level. The Dutch guy - apparently his first ever trip to the US too... Medvedev might end his run.

Raducanu through to the next round having beaten the Swiss seeded player Belinda Bencic. Put that on top of Fernandez getting through earlier and this is an amazing tournament for the younger players this year.

B2 looked flat and uninspired. Not taking anything away from the young lady from the UK-she could have choked several times and didn't. Brad Gilbert said he wouldn't be surprised if she wins.

Accepted you're not doing down Raducanu - Bencic seemed to put up more fight than the others though as the scores show. The girl still hasn't dropped a set I believe.

Its a wide open Open this year-no Serena, No Kenin, Ash Barty upset, Jennifer Brady pulled out. I haven't seen this young lady play live nor have I seen Fernandez. However, I have seen Sabalenka several times and she is my pick.
