Mary Mallon was born in 1869 in Cookstown, County Tyrone, in what is now Northern Ireland. She migrated to the United States in 1883 or 1884. She lived with her aunt and uncle for a time and later found work as a cook (ironic, that) for affluent families.
From 1900 to 1907, Mallon worked as a cook in the New York City area for seven families. In 1900, she worked in Mamaroneck, New York, where, within two weeks of her employment, residents developed typhoid fever. In 1901, she moved to Manhattan, where members of the family for whom she worked developed fevers and diarrhea, and the laundress died. Mallon then went to work for a lawyer and left after seven of the eight people in that household became ill.

Over the course of her career, she used a number of names, and is believed to have infected 51 people, three of whom died, with typhoid fever, and the first person in the United States identified as an asymptomatic carrier of the disease. She became known, colloquially, as "typhoid Mary", and was incarcerated for the remainder of her life for refusing to acknowledge her status as a carrier or get treatment.

Ha! Great point! I guess people around Trump should think about that!

And maybe he is finally going to declare national emergency today because a (secret) test showed that he DOES have the infection.

Two possibilities:

1. He's lying and both he and Pence have been tested and are currently awaiting results <--- most likely
2. He's telling the truth and he's even more of an idiot than we thought.

Either way, the mango menace continues to show his negligence, ignorance and total lack of caring for anyone but himself.

We don't know now, do we?

A real leader would show some leadership and move to the beginning of the testing line. He would might make a photo op out of it. It would clearly send the message that everyone should be tested as ANYONE can be infected.

But, we know he is not a real leader and we know nothing scares Trump more than the truth.

As Dick Nixon once said... "...The country needs to know that their President is not going to croak..." or, something like that.

I watched the press event today and cringed. All of these speakers sharing the microphone with Trump, the covid-spreader-in-Chief.

I don't know the answer to your question, but the out of the box thinking made me smile.

And your typhoid Mary reference just made me think of what Trump would say about immigrants... :(

There is Twitter talk that he has been vaccinated which, if true, would be very suspicious—to say the least.

The theory (mind you it's Twitter): US WMD purposely released in Iran, after killing that guy they droned, and a part of China in order to shift blame. US military has a vaccine in hand for the "special people."

Odds are it is bull****. But, with Trump? I'm giving it some credence.

Then it did its job.

I had the same thought about Mary being a "foreigner." Mary was not, by the way, the only such "carrier". She was just particularly obstinate.
