Ruth Marcus - Obama's 'Where's Waldo?' presidency

The above washington post article summarizes a lot of the issues I have with President Obama, namely that many times he's been passive and indecisive rather than the take-charge, force-the-issue commander-in-chief that I wanted. Please read the article and chime in with your thoughts.

For me Obama is scared. Honestly. He doesn't want to hurt anyone's feelings esp his own party. He doesn't want to piss of the middle east, china or any other country that might have an influence. He doesnt want to become the WAR president so the middle east is thin ice with him, he's already getting reamed about Obamacare, the Nov elections shook him up. He isnt going to be talking to the American people unless he absolutely has too. There is way too much PC nowadays and thats one of Obama's problems. He doesnt want to look like a bad guy and when it started looking like he was heading to the middle..he zipped his lips.
:ssst:

I think there is definitely something about him that makes him afraid to step on people's toes.

He is the type who wants to build a consensus I think. Unfortunately, with today's divisive politics and everyone going my way or the highway, its the wrong attitude to take.

I personally believe he didnt know what he was getting himself into. Who would know that half the country would go bat****, go tea party and psuedo-nihilist commie witchhunt 'messiah' hunter on him.

no, we've seen him fully willing to 'step on toes'; whether it's calling police officers stupid, republicans the enemy, or so forth.

what he's less willing to do is firmly articulate and then take a stand on a major issue in the face of serious risk. the President prefers to vote "present" on the great questions of the day.

He's appeasing the right and losing the middle, let alone the left.

I oppose a lot of his views - but he's a genuine nice and likable guy. He's like a teddy bear.

LMAO...

The Chump In Chief was enthroned like Tut with everyone on earth knowing he had no experience in anything but giving a speech. And now some of his media posse is wondering why he sux monkey ass?

This would be funny were the republic and our lives not at stake.

The only big issue that I think he's shown real leadership on is the Afghan surge, but that was back in 2009 and I think when it comes to formulating Afghan War policy he's recently become much more passive again.

Imo, Obama is all politician and not at all a political leader. Ruth Marcus and many other of his supporters are disappointed in him because they are discovering he simply isn't the man they had wanted to believe he was.

I don't think that's "stepping on toes" as much as it is just putting his foot in his mouth.

I totally agree with this.
