More and more evidence is coming to light that indicates al Qaeda might just be a creation of the CIA and the current Administration. I personnally think they do exist, but this says differently...

I'm alone on what?

I can determine two things from your post:
  1. You don't know what your talking about.
  2. You don't care to know what your talking about?
For the first one, your comment of me "...being alone", if I am to understand what you are infering, is that I am saying they [al Qaeda] are a myth. But since I included a disclaimer in my post to the effect that I think they "do" exist, your "alone" comment has no basis in reality.

For the second, why I believe you don't care, is the fact that you didn't even look at the video. Or at least not the whole thing. Because not enough time as gone by between when I posted it and when you responded that would allow you to watch the whole thing. So if you didn't watch it, then I can only assume you didn't care too. And if you didn't care too, why are you commenting on something [the case made in the video] you know nothing about.

One of the reason's I decided to post this was to show the knee-jerk reaction people have to what they think is a given. I don't mind people saying this particular assertion is bullshit, but at least look at the evidence before you draw your conclusions.

It's a silly attempt at starting a debate Bill. Bin Laden explained the origin of the name Al-Qaeda. The name matters very little. The fact remains that Al-Qaeda is very real wether or not it's as big as some people claim it to be is debateable but it's there.

Al-Qaeda - Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia

It's been established that intelligence has been ballooned up by the Bush Administration. It wouldnt be the only time. Remember Iraq?

I'm not saying their not. But keep in mind the fact that UBL doesn't speak english. So everything he says has to be "translated". Also, there is more information out there to prove beyond a reasonable doubt that, if anything, it is not "silly". But since you refuse to even be open to it, you don't really know.

Good. Because I like you and it would strain relations between us . You wacky lib

lol...I can see it already arabic translators from around the world being told to wronfully translate what Bin Laden says. The Al-Jazeera network, FOX, MSNBC, ABC, BBC, CNN and C-SPAN working as a team to give their viewers the impression that there is such a thing as Al-Qaeda.

Also, there is more information out there to prove beyond a reasonable doubt that, if anything, it is not "silly". But since you refuse to even be open to it, you don't really know.

Oh I'm very opened to it. If you have some more of this info please post it so I can read it. The video wasn't long enough.

You should watch this Bill

it's an eerie De-Ja-Vu almost...

I see you are having a good time over at YouTube Billy-O. Thanks for the videos. Loved the Stern one.

I too, think Al Q is real. But I have to admit, if any half-witted government (or even a high-school class) wanted to, it would be sooooo easy to concoc...er...concock.....concoct....uh.... make-up (dammit! :3oops: ).

A couple of ME actors, some graphics artists, hell it would be easier than a lunar landing. :rofl

What do you think?

I think you are a few steps away of being one of those 9-11 conspiracy nuts who thinks terrorist didn't fly planes into buildings and one of those UFO freaks who thinks aliens shoved a probe up your ***.

Al Qaeda is very real. Their are numerous sources which document their existence which do not come from anyone U.S. related.

No, this was all created years ago by the evil genius of GWB to rule the world. He has duped you all into thinking he's a bumbling idiot, when he really has been planning all this to help bolster Skull & Bones power and influence all throughout the world. To think, a guy who can barely form sentences, could hatch the idea of Al-Qaeda years before running for the presidency shows you his genius. Only Billo, and the far left have seen through the charade, and the lies. Save us Billo, save us.......................

Depends on what you mean by "myth." I'm pretty sure that AQ is real, but there are many myths that surround AQ in the American consciousness.

I think a better question would have been is Al Qaeda an orchestrated puppet with powers that be pulling the strings?

Al Quaeda do exist.

But GWB uses it as "public ennemy nr. 1" even if it has no power anymore. It has been destroyed in Afghanistan by NATO forces. Bin Laden is dead, the others are fleeing. Some are still loyal, but now it has lost almost all its power, and would be unable to commit a single big attack anymore.

Yet, GWB still referes to "the mighty Al Quaeda" to justify the huge costs of the "war on terror" and this war itself (spreading the US influence in the middle east). That remembers me 1984!

Indded Al Qaeda is a myth just like the myth of the landing on the moon in 1969 (there was even a movie that proved that the landing never was - Capricon something), just like the myth that the breasts of Doly Parton are natural ones (they aren't...), just like the myth that Elvis Presly died fat and just like the myth that the children of Israel were taken out from the slavery in ancient Egypt...

? What is your point?

Did I say that Al Quaeda was a myth?

It still exists, but it is very weak now.

So, so far we have Billo posting a video that concludes that the Al-Qaeda organization may be a made up organization (but the "disillusioned islamic extremists" arent). Then he turns around and specifically states that he does believe that Al-Qaeda exists, he just thought it would be interesting to see how others feel after watching a short 7 minute video on the subject.

Then we have people who obviously don't read much past the title of the thread, Let alone the opening post. Those who fail to watch the video or even read all of Billo's post before attacking him and calling him a conspiracy theory nut. Even though he already stated that he didn't believe the conclusions of the video, just thought it was thought provoking.

Then we have people who act as if they are Al-Qaeda experts, without telling us anything more. Just that they "know" of all sorts of stuff about Al-Qaeda.

We have a couple of ingenious smart asses.

And then we have a few peopled who are actually trying to start up a debate (which is why we all joined here at DP right?).

But for the most part, idiots have tried to troll this thread, so I say to those fools, Shame on you!

I know first hand they are real. Prior to and after 911 I worked at this university(homepage may be down due to tornadic activity on 12-25)... It is a highly credited flight school where it was rumored that some of the terrorists pilots had actually trained. Prior to 911 they ( some middle easterners ) would chant "Al-Qaeda!" to one another and even had a particular arm&fist gesture they would often make in so doing... On 9-12-01 the whole place swarmed with FBI pulling records and conducting random interviews. Some of which students were apprehended. All of whom never returned.

No...
But here is my own personal observation; All of the conspirists theory buy-ins are either foreigners, anti-American, anti-Bush, Muslim, liberals or some combination thereof.
Do they hate GW so much that they choose to believe it..?
Or do they believe it so much that they hate GW..?
Either case... Its an absurdity.

Bush used 9/11 as an opportunity, rather than a tragedy. But I don't think he was complicit in the event.

When you go to the website provided in your post, one of the assertions in the article is...
...with the highlighted portion being the link to this website...
...that makes no reference to Mohammed Atef, UBL or Somolia.

And on this assertion by the Frontline website... ...it is not explained how they know UBL and other Islamic radicals are "inspired".

And in this one... ...they "believe" it is the first. Can they not "prove" it is the first?

Now in this assertion from the Frontline website...
Final Training of Somali Forces

According to a document published by the British government, Muhammad Atef, Saif al Adel and other members of Al Qaeda return to Somalia to train Somali forces to attack U.N. troops.
...refers you to the same website above. My guess is the particular page is there somewhere, but I'm too lazy to go look for it. So if you want me to buy your bullshit, your going to have to hold my hand and give me a cookie!

What I posted was a timeline with brief inserts but without reading all of the info or watching the program you jump to conclusions and say it’s my bullchit... Why dont you watch and read before the info you open your mouth?

Here’s another link for your lazy azz not to read.

frontline: hunting bin laden: who is bin laden?: al qaeda | PBS

National Islamic Front, an Islamist group that had recently gained power, invited al-Qaeda to move operations to their country. For several years, al-Qaeda ran several businesses (including an import/export business, farms, and a construction firm) in what might be considered a period of financial consolidation. The group was responsible for the construction of a major 1200 km (845mi) highway connecting the capital Khartoum with Port Sudan. But they also ran a number of camps where they trained aspirants in the use of firearms and explosives.

In 1996, Osama bin Laden was asked to leave Sudan after the United States put the regime under extreme pressure to expel him, citing possible connections to the 1994 attempted assassination of Egyptian President Hosni Mubarak while his motorcade was in Addis Ababa, Ethiopia. A controversy exists regarding whether Sudan offered to turn bin Laden over to the U.S. prior to the expulsion. There is an audio tape recording of former President Bill Clinton talking about the offer from the Sudanese government. Although there are tablish ing reports on whether the Sudanese government ever indeed made such an offer, but they were prepared to turn him over to Saudi Arabia who declined to take him.[citation needed]

Osama bin Laden finally left Sudan in a well planned and executed operation accompanied by some 200 of his supporters and their families traveling directly to Jalalabad, Afghanistan by air in late 1996.

And one more.

Here's a little more food for thought on the al Qaeda myth

There is one thing I do know, and that is I cannot trust anything my government says at face value. Everything this Administration claims should be investigated and corroborated from impartial and unconnected sources.
