In Their Pocket, GOP Block Student Loan Reform

Citation show 90%+, and do us a favor, save the far lefty websites for the left loony sheeple. How about a nice .gov site showing 90%+ traced back to Reagan eh?

Sorry you can't critically think. But here goes

Economic Downturn and Bush Policies Continue to Drive Large Projected Deficits

The goal of reining in long-term deficits and debt would be much easier to achieve if it were not for the policies set in motion during the Bush years. That era’s tax cuts — most of which policymakers extended in this year’s American Taxpayer Relief Act, with President Obama’s support — and the wars in Iraq and Afghanistan will account for almost half of the debt that we will owe, under current policies, by 2019.

"Starving the beast" is a political strategy employed by American conservatives in order to limit government spending by cutting taxes in order to deprive the government of revenue in a deliberate effort to force the federal government to reduce spending.

Before his election as President, then-candidate Ronald Reagan foreshadowed the strategy during the 1980 US Presidential debates, saying "John Anderson tells us that first we've got to reduce spending before we can reduce taxes. Well, if you've got a kid that's extravagant, you can lecture him all you want to about his extravagance. Or you can cut his allowance and achieve the same end much quicker."

You're good at quoting others, but do you have any thoughts of your own?

Can you define this form of government in layman's terms with regards to the Constitution?

We vote on representation....Of course if the GOP get's it's way, less will be able to in future elections :(

It completely invalidates it.

No it doesn't. The implication was that that is not unique to president Obama. Honestly though I don't really want to defend Obama, because he's just another empty suit.

Reading comprehension issues? Try it again, hey?

Fair enough.

Why do a majority of students need more than a Bachelors?

Over saturation of students has lowered what a Bachelors degree is worth in the real world.

Good you agree, Reagan, Bush and Bush policies are responsible for 90%+ of current debt...

that's crap

FDR is more responsible than any other president. But for his bad laws that his lapdog justices allowed to stand, the federal government would be one third the size it is now

Just show me the numbers.

Economic Downturn and Bush Policies Continue to Drive Large Projected Deficits

Just two policies dating from the Bush Administration — tax cuts and the wars in Iraq and Afghanistan — accounted for over $500 billion of the deficit in 2009 and will account for nearly $6 trillion in deficits in 2009 through 2019 (including associated debt-service costs of $1.4 trillion). By 2019, we estimate that these two policies will account for almost half — over $8 trillion — of the $17 trillion in debt that will be owed under current policies

CBO NUMBERS....

Over saturation of students has devalued what a degree is worth in the real world.

Yes, what's valued is experience and work ethic. These things can be established through things like internships. Internships, by the way, are an excellent idea while earning your bachelors at the local public college.

You really don't know how government works do you. The SCOTUS upholds the constitution and interprets it by apply it.

Yes, that activists SCOTUS HAS DONE JUST THAT, Giving Corps rights of speech? lol

Yeah, tell that to someone working their way through college *shaking head*

You provided no .gov site. My comprehension is fine. So you got nothing then?

Apparently not, you limited my posit of THREE US PREZ to Reagan. Sorry, you need to use critical thinking and honesty on this one.... I know it's in VERY short supply in the CONservative bubble

I didn't mean to imply that it can't be done, just that students shouldn't have to kill themselves just to survive through college and then spend decades in debt.
