In the last four hours, 71% of money wagered on the 2020 US election was on Trump... — which the site’s head of marketing, Sam Eaton, called a “remarkable” swing.

“The 2020 election is following a very similar betting pattern to the one we witnessed back in 2016.

One bookmaker, Paddy Power, told the Sun that 93% of wagers had been on Trump over the previous 24 hours.

Well, that must mean Trump wins. Whoever most people bet on always wins....

People putting actual, hard earned money on a candidate, would seem to be a good indicator. Wisdom of the crowds type thing. nigel Farage put some 10k on Trump. I think he is hoping for a polling error similar to the Brexit vote.

I guess the question is are people betting on Trump because they really believe he will win, or they are just taking advantage of the odds and a bigger payout.

A fool and his money are soon parted.

Do you even know how betting works? The number of people betting on something has nothing to do with the likelihood that it will happen. The return is higher if Trump wins because the odds of him winning are much lower.

Sinners all of them

gambling is a sin

True in most cases but not in election cases considering the election is determined by the people. This is like Tom Brady betting on his team to win.

and over the past 1 hour. 90% of wagers have been on Biden..who now sits as a 2-1 favorite to displace Trump.

So now gambling decides the election?

People that gamble in this fashion are risk takers, they risk more to get as much as possible out of a bet....Biden is favored to win by 2/3 odds, which means if you put your money on Trump and win you get more out of it then say putting the same amount on Biden....Gamblers in general hardly play the "safe" bet....Trump is in close enough position for the gamblers to take the risk and bet on the underdog.
