We who loved Overitall knew that if there was going to be a memorial thread in his honor this would be the very forum for it. Thank you to a very special friend who suggested just the right place to put this thread.
It's with a very, very sad heart, I am announcing that one of my dearest and beloved online friends has passed away after a courageous fight with stage IV liver cancer. He passed away last week.
Some of us knew Overitall fell ill even before he was diagnosed approximately 18 months ago. He included us in on his journey with cancer. He wasn't afraid to open up in hundreds of P/Ms where he leaned on his friends. What a courageous battle he fought right until the end. Some of us were privileged to be with him every step of his cancer journey where he fought so hard to live. I feel honored that he shared this with me. He wasn't afraid of death, but he was afraid his family would have a tough time getting on without him. I hope we helped him with this worry. He was big caretaker, and it was tough for him to let go as Overitall had a way of putting others always before himself.
In turn though, Overitall taught us how to trust in the Lord that everything was going be okay despite his worries. We prayed together. He fought bravely and to the end with great courage and faith, passing surrounded by his loving family while in hospice home care. Overitall had a huge loving family, a loving wife, sons, daughters, grandchildren, great grandchildren and I'd like to think he also had many online friends he loved, and honored as though they were members of his own family.
Overitall began his journey as a Christian from an early age, and as a grown man never got off track, dedicating his life to ministering those in need, and mostly the less fortunate. This man did not talk the talk, he walked the walk.
He was my friend. He was the friend of many. He always put his friends ahead of himself. That's just the way he was... I will cherish his "Check In/Out Desk" thread. I will do my best to keep it going in Overitall's honor and memory. Oh, how he loved that thread. He really did!
It's now time to pray for Overitall in his new life, and his family in their difficult days ahead managing without him. I know in my heart Overitall would love it if you joined in with the celebration of his life, offering a prayer or just a few kind thoughts in his memory. He will be missed but never forgotten. So long, my dear friend. Until we meet again.

Eternal and loving God, giver of life and hope and peace: We thank you today for a life well lived. We thank you for the life of Overitall, and for all he brought to our world. We thank you for his relationships, for his talents, for his energy, for his love, and for the example he set for every life he touched along the way.
It gives us pause, O Lord, when we face the death of someone so close. It seems almost impossible to think that he is gone now. But even in this hour, when we recognize his death, we so clearly remember and cherish his life… Give us the assurance of your presence as we remember and as we grieve and then, as time passes, as we heal. Let his life, who touched ours so profoundly, be honored this day and always held dear in our hearts. Amen.
