Coelenterazine (compound A in the attached graphic) is a component of bioluminescent systems in a wide range of marine organisms. See https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Coelenterazine. Interestingly, a Japanese research group found in 1991 that this large molecule can be significantly reduced in size & complexity (compound B) while still generating light when oxidized by the enzyme luciferase.
