I'm Proud To Be an American!!!

This thread is amusing. Most people assumed from the OP that he was some over zealous, highly patriotic conservative. Then he makes a comment about Bush screwing over Americans and hugging Osama on a bumper sticker.

Not only does he prove his ignorance, but I won't be surprised to now see the same people who were critical of the OP now agree with his view of the president.
---
Now tell me, how did you ever get the idea that I was a ***OVER ZEALOUS HIGHLY PATRIOTIC CONSERVATIVE*** from the total of ***EIGHT WORDS*** that I posted from the OP???
YES!!! ***THE EIGHT WORDS I POSTED INCLUDING THE TITLE!!!***
---
SO, now that you went back and read the *eight words I posted from the OP,* WHOS IGNORANCE does that prove???
Pssssttt, Yo, heres a HINT, ***YOU!***
---
Sorry about the bumper stickers of your seemingly GOD BUSH!!!
---
Well at least you got the *highly patriotic* part right!:rock
---
Ahhh, I hate to burst your *** BUSH BUBBLE*** but you are one out of the 20 people left that are still sucking in Bushs LIES!!!
Americans have spoken (with the 20% rating he has now) they said, hey, YO, BUSHIE BOY, WE ARE TIRED OF YOUR LIES!!! GO TAKE A HIKE TO THE FRONT LINES IN IRAQ!!!
---
BTW: Thanks for amusing me and all the rest that read this!

Your post demonstrates exactly what I have known for awhile now, this country has lost it's middle ground. It's assumed that if one is not an unabashed Bush hater, then that somehow equates to giving the president and this administration tacit approval on every issue.

I don't think Bush is evil, nor do I think he is the stupidest man to walk the earth, or that he is Osama's buddy, yet I still disagree with many republican ideologies and would not consider myself a Bush fan.

I know this concept may be hard for you to understand though.

It's easy and natural to be proud of your country. Being social creatures, it is a human function to feel an affinity towards your group.

But being proud is not a particularly distiguishing (or necessarily impressive, IMO) characteristic. After all, the Nazis in general were very proud of their country too. I certainly don't think they were admirable despite that trait.

So I'd like to ask those who have indicated they are proud of America or proud to be an American: Why? Other than the fact that "it's my country" (anyone can say that) why are you proud of America?

Because America is a land of opportunity. There is so much in this country that is available to anyone who wants to acheive it. Even if something is currently unattainable, we have a system that allows for progressive ideas to come to fruition over time. The sky is the limit here, and the only thing that holds you back is yourself. People come to this country in droves, legally and illegally for a reason, and thats because America is that good.

We spill our blood around the world, not only to safeguard our own shores, but to protect people around the world. Our servicemen and women stand guard all around the world, not just selfishly protecting what ours, but protecting others as well. How different would Europe look had we not troops stationed overseas post WWII. What would the Korean peninsula look like, or Japan for that matter had we retreated back to our borders?

I am proud to be an American.

I feel lucky that I was born here rather than a third world country. As far as being proud, I'm proud of the inalienable rights which are afforded to us by the Constitution and that our fore fathers had the fore sight and know how to give the country what I consider to be a pretty incredible document to govern the land with.

That's a good one!

So, I see you danced around what I said and are now talk about something else.
OK! When you went off on a rant after I posted about the magnets that I have about Bush, was I to take it that you are NOT a Bush fanboy?
---
I don't think Bush is evil, I do think hes not a smart man, stupid, no, just dumb. I do not hate Bush, I hate his policys. Theres the difference that I have posted many times before.
---
I never said that Bush and Osama were buddies, I did say what the sticker said.
Just so you will know, on 911 the BinLadens were on Bushs ranch in Texas and the BinLadens were sent back to SA on the first allowed flight after 911.
Does Bushs friendship with the BinLadens have anything to do with 911? YES!
-
17 Of the 19 911 hijackers were from Saudia Arabia, Bush invades Afgain. which I thought was the right thing to do.
Did Bush invade SA after Afgain? No, he invaded Iraq which even his 911 commis. said Saddam-Iraq had nothing to do with 911.
Bush: 2001-We will not stop until we capture the ones responsible for 911, Osama BinLaden and his gang of thugs.
-
Bush 2003: I don't know where Osama is and he is no longer a priority!

Hey, KC, it's been awhile.

Nice to see you around.

As far as being proud, I'm proud of the inalienable rights which are afforded to us by the Constitution and that our fore fathers had the fore sight and know how to give the country what I consider to be a pretty incredible document to govern the land with even if it is totally modified every 4 years.

Because Belgium is a land of opportunity. There is so much in this country that is available to anyone who wants to acheive it (especially beer export). Even if something is currently unattainable, we have a system that allows for progressive ideas to come to fruition over time. The sky is the limit here, and the only thing that holds you back is yourself. People come to this country in droves, legally and illegally for a reason, and thats because Belgium is that good.

We spill our beer around the world, not only to party on our own shores, but to make happy people around the world. Our beer makers stand guard all around the world, not just selfishly protecting what ours, but protecting others as well. How different would America look had we not waffles sellers stationed overseas post WWII. What would the Korean peninsula look like, or Japan for that matter had we retreated our waffle production back to our borders?

I am proud to be a Belgian.

Much more convincing this way

Seargeant Stinger1's word is gold!
That was way back in 2001 but you can look it up if you want to.

No, its not true. See if I really wasn't teling the truth I could have said that.
It is true, really.

I tried "Sergeant" stinger and I could not find the bin ladens on Bush's ranch.

Are you making this up? :2wave:

No. If I was lying I would tell you. Maybe its not true:confused: but it was all over another site I go on back in 2001.
I can't find a link either.
All I came up with was the 13 BinLadens relatives that left here on a plane that the White House uses and was cleared 8 days after 911. The plane made stops at Cali. Texas and Florida.
Seems to me that it may not be true.
But I didn't just make it up, I went by what we were all talking about then.

Much more convincing this way

Belgium does have terrific beer. New Belgium brewery in Colorado uses traditional Belgium methods for making beer...and those waffles are damned good too. Y'all have guns over there?

I guess I'd be the first in this thread to admit that I'm actually not very proud of my country. I don't think I can say I hate it, but I'm pretty sure I'm not proud of it.

Before anyone jumps to conclusions, I do admire American ideals about freedom. Those ideals are definately something to be proud of. What I'm not proud of is that the US seldomly practices what it preaches.

Am I proud of my country? No, not necessarily. Am I proud of being an American? Yea, very much so.

Should other countries give food aid to nations with starving polulations that do not either practice birth control or place restrictions on the number of children couples can have?

Does throwing food at starving people solve anything meaningful at all?

Does throwing food at starving people solve anything meaningful at all?

Question:

Who else is trying?

You can't bash America because we don't do EVERYTHING for EVERYONE.

We try to assist, thats the important part isn't it?

Maybe other nations should try to take a little responsibility for their nation's own problems instead of depending on the big bad USA to fix everything for them.

Im so sick of whiney *** dependant nations talking down about the U.S. for not fixing all of the world's problems.

Who else is trying?

Nobody's trying. If you are doing something that isn't going to solve the problem, and you know it won't solve the problem, yet you continue to do it, then you aren't trying.

And you didn't answer my question.

You can't bash America because we don't do EVERYTHING for EVERYONE.

Where'd I bash anyone? I asked a question that you didn't answer.

We try to assist, thats the important part isn't it?

Even if you were trying, it wouldn't be the important part. What a ridiculous answer! Do you think those people that are starving are like "Well at least they tried, that's all that matters."

What matters is if the problem gets solved or not.

Im so sick of whiney *** dependant nations talking down about the U.S. for not fixing all of the world's problems.

Yeah, that's why they do it.

Is it Americas or any other countries duty to get involved with Darfur?
