The recent development time for vaccines against COVID alerted me to messenger RNA. In this novel technology, the mRNA sequence for a desired protein like an antibody is bonded to a harmless virus. After injection, the mRNA is cleaved & on its way to being translated into the desired protein.
I had studies the COVID biology during the lockdown so I had a head start in understanding this new technology & its potential. And the potential for new drugs apart from today's vaccines is incredible. First comes to mind is recombinant drugs. New vaccines. Replacement hormones. You name it. This technology is a gold mine.
