I say I hope he's able to help negotiate a peace that is most beneficial to the Ukrainians.Though I hope I'm wrong for the sake of Ukrainian citizens who are being bombed at and killed every day. I don't care how peace comes about, even if Trump can do it.
But I don't think he has it in him. He seems too willing to give Putin concessions and Ukraine none.
Is it because he thinks Putin really is a friend or because he fears Putin has kompromat on him? That we may never know, but whatever the case, it's obvious that Trump has always leaned more towards giving Russia what they want than Ukraine.
Even now, there is no real talk about punishing Russia for blowing past deadlines. Tariffs on India, which increase costs for US buyers, will not work.
And now Trump is allowing Putin to come to US soil, to the land that Russians say is theirs (Alaska). What is accomplished by such cowardice?
Trump will get rolled if they meet next week. He always does.
What say you?
If Trump manages to get it done, will you give him kudos?Though I hope I'm wrong for the sake of Ukrainian citizens who are being bombed at and killed every day. I don't care how peace comes about, even if Trump can do it.
Yes. I want there to be peace there. For a terrorist nation, Russia, to stop bombing and killing innocent Ukrainian civilians. If Trump brokers peace, I'll give him credit. If someone else (European leaders), same.If Trump manages to get it done, will you give him kudos?
Putin is both smart and devious. Trump is neither. Any agreement made will be to Putin's advantage.Though I hope I'm wrong for the sake of Ukrainian citizens who are being bombed at and killed every day. I don't care how peace comes about, even if Trump can do it.

He's already failed miserably. He lied about ending the conflict on day one. Everyone knows he's Putin's chew toy, so this meeting is just optics for maga idiots and the press to pretend diplomacy is taking place.Though I hope I'm wrong for the sake of Ukrainian citizens who are being bombed at and killed every day. Witkoff is a dumbkoff, why he was ever considered for this role is beyond me. He has no experience in international diplomacy. He's a ****ing real estate investor for Odin's sake. Just another huge sign that Trump is not serious about this whole process.Trump has someone to hang the fail on.
Trump's special envoy Witkoff misunderstood Putin - Bild
УНН Politics ✎ Steve Witkoff, Donald Trump's special envoy, misinterpreted Putin's statements regarding ceasefire conditions.unn.ua
“The publication also notes that US special envoy Steve Witkoff misunderstood Putin's statements and took them for a concession. For example, he interpreted Russia's required "peaceful withdrawal" of Ukrainians from Kherson and Zaporizhzhia as an offer of a "peaceful withdrawal" of Russians from these same regions, reported by BILD.”
I look for a “who knew that peace was so complicated,” statement by the next day.
He said it would end it on day one. This would have never happened under Trump yet he lets it continue for months and months. Just more lies from blow hard Trump. If Trump manages to get it done, will you give him kudos?
I'll ask you the same question. If Trump gets it done, will you give credit where credit is due?He said it would end it on day one. This would have never happened under Trump yet he lets it continue for months and months. Just more lies from blow hard Trump.
Or perhaps another Trumped up distraction from the Epstein fiasco. He's already failed miserably. He lied about ending the conflict on day one. Everyone knows he's Putin's chew toy, so this meeting is just optics for maga idiots and the press to pretend diplomacy is taking place.

I bet you said he would never be elected, would never be elected again, would cause a world war, would bring about a horrible recession, couldn't fix the border. I'm sure your list of claims is long and is a long list of wrong opinions. Somehow I doubt you thought he would help establish peace treaties between any of the nations that have already occurred. I also remind you Biden's approach in Ukraine/Russian achieved nothing towards peace.Though I hope I'm wrong for the sake of Ukrainian citizens who are being bombed at and killed every day. I don't care how peace comes about, even if Trump can do it.

What do you define as "done"? If it's just carving up Ukraine and handing it to Putin, that would be one version of "done".I'll ask you the same question. If Trump gets it done, will you give credit where credit is due?
Dude. Way to go out on a limb.Though I hope I'm wrong for the sake of Ukrainian citizens who are being bombed at and killed every day. I don't care how peace comes about, even if Trump can do it.

I would love to but I have zero confidence in his ability to accomplish it. I’ll ask you a question. At what point will you consider him a liar for all his bluster and floundering in a continued war he said he would put an end to eight months ago?I'll ask you the same question. If Trump gets it done, will you give credit where credit is due?
He has been on a war footing since moving into office; his polices are right now crashing our economy as the last jobs report showed, his immigration policies are so underwater he lost all political advantage.I bet you said he would never be elected, would never be elected again, would cause a world war, would bring about a horrible recession, couldn't fix the border.

Map shows where Donald Trump has helped broker peace deals since election
The president has said that he has "stopped" several wars since taking office again in January.www.newsweek.com
If it's a good deal, sure. The question is parsing out what Russia wants that's reasonable and not caving in to just their demands. The current administration's been a bit mushy on taking a hard line against Russia either rhetorically or in policy. Should there be a negotiated settlement, how Russia gets rewarded for their invasion will be very telling. If Trump manages to get it done, will you give him kudos?
