I own a 9MM, a 40 cal and two 38 revolvers. I have always had a fear of semi-autos jamming so my Choice would be a revolver with a speed loader.

I wouldn't be a police officer. When I carried a handgun for self defense, it was necessarily an M1911A1. .45 ACP, of course. I carried it sometimes in a GI holster, more often in a forward raked Bianchi. Also "Mexican carry"...and occasionally in a beach towel. :D

I never felt that my gun was inferior for purposes of self defense.

Handgun
Either 9mm - Staccato P. 17 round magazine with 20 round reloads.
Or in .45 ACP - Rock Island TAC Ultra FS HC. 14 round double stack 1911

Patrol rifle
11.5“ or 10.5“ 5.56 AR-15 loaded Mk-262 77grain OTMs. Suppressed of course.

I also like revolvers, but the passage of time seems to point to a Glock 17. I don't have one, but nevertheless. I do own a snubbie.

Too many childish responses here.

Most police shootings don't require 13-17 rounds not saying they never come into play keeping in mind that typically there are several officers present when the shooting starts. I would prefer a Kimber 45. I did not know 45s came in 14 round clips.

No-one has ever come out of a gunfight saying "I wished I had less ammo". You could easily end up in the equivalent of the 1986 FBI Miami shootout. Especially with gang bangers these days rocking Glocks with 30+ round magazines and full auto switches.

Kimbers are nice but most of their models have the firing pin block safety (denoted by the II in the name, Custom II, Ultra II). I like them but for duty use would stick with a series 70 design 1911.

Agreed but my point is in actual cases rarely do officers empty full clips because of backup cops on the scene. I favor a guarantee of no jamming over more ammo.

I just learned there is a gun mfg. named Pakistan Arms. I would not buy a can opener from them.

Pakistani Ordnance Factory? They actually make very good licensed versions of the H&K MP-5.

Heck, if they can build an AK-47 in the mountains with nothing but hand tools, think what they can do with a modern factory.

EVERYONE can build an AK-47 with a pair of pliers. That is the reason they are everywhere! I will buy nothing from them.

M1911 .45 ACP. Probably one that is built by Wilson Combat.

Load it with 185 grain +p rounds. Either Remington Golden Sabers or Double Tap Gold Dots.

7.62x51 rifle for my long gun. Load it with 150 grain Gold Dots.

Depending on my mood I like both "wood and steel" and "black with pistol grips". I'm in a "wood and steel" mood right now, so make it a Springfield M1A.

If I was in a "black with pistol grips" mood, I'd pick a modern clone of the HK-91. Made by whoever is making the best-built clones at the moment.

They can, but the pistol grip is pretty wide to fit two columns of .45 rounds.

The Glock 21 has a 13 round magazine. Some people make M1911 variants with an equally wide pistol grip to compete with the Glock.

I'd stick with the 8 round magazine versions for a more comfortable grip. It's not like it takes long to change a magazine.
