If were qualified, Muslim, and had no history of radicalism then yes.
And I'd say the same for any religion or ideology. I wouldn't vote for a "Libertarian" candidate who had an historic pattern of anarchist action. I wouldn't vote for a Christian candidate who had an historic pattern of demanding violent treatment of homosexuals. I wouldn't vote for a "Progressive" candidate who had an historic pattern of encouraging violent revolution against the "rich". And I wouldn't vote for a Muslim candidate who had an historic pattern of encouraging violence against "infidels", supporting jihadist movements, or condemning western behavior.
But any rational adoption of ideological/religious dogma is a non issue for me.
To clarify my vote:
I said no because at this time, with all the conflict in the middle east, it could impair his judgement of making the better choices for this nation. food for thought, not saying i'm right or wrong.
Only if the non-Muslim opponent was totally unqualified.
how?
if he is qualified thats a nonissue because he wouldnt care.
things like this could be true of any president, for any reason.
You have to be in-depth. He could be 100% qualified but if he is a full on Muslim then he would protect the injury of any Muslim that he could prevent. terrorist or not. I say this for this religion because the Muslim religion is the one religion that claims the death of others are good except those who follow Allah. Muslim religion believes (majority) that the death of others is the gateway to heaven.
I'm just being realistic. My apologies.
nope just your opinion of the religion
many muslims would not do that and again if he would choose to violate the constitution etc etc then he is not qualified.
Good point
I know there is a similar poll here but I didnt like the silly twist about adding "if he came out the day before the election" in there
my question is, if you felt the person was qualified by your standards to be president and he was a Muslim would you vote for him, and if not why?
my answer is OF COURSE YES, because if I thought he was qualified his religion doesn't matter.
It would depend on his/her background...I would not if they were not american born and bred
I think the poll you'd actually like to ask is, "Would you refuse to vote for a Presidential candidate just because he's a Muslim?"
And if that's the case, then no - I would not disallow a candidate for President just because he's a Muslim.
It would depend on his/her background...I would not if they were not american born and bred
****.
I would say yes, but I also like mashed potatoes.
The things I have to go through....
It would depend on his/her background...I would not if they were not american born and bred
I would be skeptical, but it depends on who the opponent is and how much I like them.
Yep, it is based on their religion. Politicians lie, I would be worried if he believed in restricting freedom of speech, or sympathized with countries like Iran.why skeptical and is that skepticism based solely on the religion?
The opponent is absolutely in the equation. For instance, do I think the opponent is qualified. For instance if I had the choice between a Muslim Jon Huntsman against Nancy Pelosi, then the choice would be easy. But if the muslim candidate is worse and the democrat candidate is better, then it would be a more difficult choice.also the opponent isnt in the equation
its qualified person who happens to be Muslim.

No, it is only Islam. It is based on what is happening in Muslim countries where people lack basic rights such as freedom of speech and women are second class citizens. Yes, there are countries who are not Muslim where they lack basic rights, but it is not based on religion.1.) is this a concern for you for ALL religions
You can choose to not include it in the poll, but it is still important for me.2.) no because its my op and my question and not part of it
