I say 33. You are still young but people finally take you more seriously then they did when you were in your 20s. And you have most of the wisdom from life experience that you are ever going to have.

33 sounds good to me. But I think I have more wisdom and maturity now (at 62) than I had in my 30's.

You must be close to 33. You’re going to learn a whole lot more if you manage to make senior citizen status. Your wisdom will amaze your thirty something self. I guarantee it!

27, young enough to still be amazing on the court in pick up basketball and old enough to earn good money.

Understanding women was my biggest challenge to understanding life and at this point in life I think I finally do.

What have you learned about life past your thirties that you didn’t know then?

My answer is the revelation of just how dumb your younger self was. You understand women, you say; perfect example!

I am assuming that you must be past your thirties by your post.

Can you tell me what your 30 something self did not know or appreciate?

Women are not that difficult to understand once you stop trying to think of what society expects you to think about them and just experience them in real life.

Volumes! My thirty something had life all figured out. There is no handful of things I can give as examples, it is something that must be experienced. I liken it to what you thought when you were 14 or 15 compared to what you know now, assuming you are in your mid 30s………

Famous quote from Mark Twain: “I left home at 14 and returned at 21, I was amazed how much my parents had learned in seven years.”

How old are you?

I’m pushing 70.

As I matured I became a lot calmer - less worrying about little things, more able to deal with the big things. It improved my relationships and enjoyment of life immensely.

In my 50s I discovered stoicism and that really made a positive impact. I wish I knew about that in my teens and 20s!

I don't agree... I've been married several times... as they say, every time is successful... but still... no... women are quite complex creatures.

First thing is “yes, dear.”

Second is that the female of our speciies is the stronger of the two by leaps and bounds.

I have tried to become calmer. I developed a skill of letting people know what I think by using no spoken words and it still gets me in trouble. It takes me over a minute to clench and unclench a fist…..

Keeping ones mouth shut works wonders for a relationship.

If they ever figure out how stupid we are we're all screwed.
****! They know! Diplomats all of them………

I practiced Buddhism for a while and they taught me that everything is impermanent and while I no longer practice it, I find that thought to be very freeing.

The list would fill this page, but I can sum it up with one word: patience.

Yes but they have a couple of components that are essentially universal and if you ground yourself in understanding these, the other aspects suddenly make sense.

You haven’t answered the age question.

I don’t mean to make light of your Buddhism education, but “impermanent “ is one of the early lessons regardless of ideology…….

Interesting because I too call my post-50 disposition, “Stoic.”

I've been 17 since I was 3.

I think late 20's to early 30's, that's when we are at our physical peak, but do we have to stay that age mentally?

I assume we would still grow mentally we'd just stay that age physically.
