If you could pass a one-sentence Federal law, what would it be?

What very brief law would you pass to make our country better? By very brief I mean once sentence of 25 words or less. Mine is only 10 words. Here it is:

The Taft-Hartley Act of 1947 is hereby repealed effective immediately.

I've been waiting for someone to say this one for a long, long time:
The Uniting (and) Strengthening America (by) Providing Appropriate Tools Required (to) Intercept (and) Obstruct Terrorism Act of 2001 (USA PATRIOT) is hereby repealed effective immediately.

No Law Enforcement Agent shall have access to any firearm or weapon not legally available to the residents of the area their agency has jurisdiction over.

Maybe controversal but "Every Illegal and undocumented worker, upon being found, is to be deported to their country of origin and upon second offense remanded to federal prison for a term of 25-life"

The Code of Federal Regulations is hereby abolished.

Congress shall pass no law violating the separation of economics and state action.

Either that, or:

The right of all people to purchase, own, carry or safely use any number of all kinds of firearms cannot be f***ed with, unless you're crazy or have killed someone.

:roflmao: That's not very professionally phrased, but I get your meaning. It would probably be the only American law that uses the F word. That might get you into trouble, however, when some slick lawyer claims the law means no one is allowed to have sexual intercourse with firearms.

I know, I threw that in as a joke because had I said infringed well... that would leave open the room for all current legal precedents regarding the purchase of handguns.

Besides, w/ the F word, its MORE American! Or Amurricun at least!

That's easy. I would eliminate the largest cause of domestic economic destruction.

The National Labor Relations Act of 1935 is hereby repealed effective immediately

"Executive Order 11727, and all agencies established to facilitate the provisions within, are hereby abolished."

"We the delegates of the people of Texas, in Convention assembled, have passed an ordinance dissolving all political connection with the government of the United States of America."

All citizens of the United States who are otherwise eligible to vote, must pass a Federally Mandated IQ test.

"Executive Order 11727, and all agencies established to facilitate the provisions within, are hereby abolished."

That's a good one. I had to google it to know what it was. It's Nixon's executive order to conduct the war on drugs. I had not realized he started the WOD via an executive order. I thought he had to pass a bill through Congress. I think that's Nixon's worst legacy, worse than Watergate and worse than how he handled the Vietnam War. I agree with you 100 percent.

"We the delegates of the people of Texas, in Convention assembled, have passed an ordinance dissolving all political connection with the government of the United States of America."

Texas already tried that once and it didn't work out so well. However, I would be okay with it. If Texas did that today, I would say we shouldn't start a war over it; we should just let them go. It would take Texas's electoral votes out of presidential elections and it would get rid of Texas's Senators and Representatives. I'd love that.

No corporation utilizing a top down business structure, or one where ownership is not equally distributed among all participating workers, is hereby not recognized by these states and will not be allowed to function within their borders.

Dissent and/or criticism welcomed. :2wave:

Well for one thing, you've got a double negative, which makes its meaning confusing:

No corporation utilizing a top down business structure, or one where ownership is not equally distributed among all participating workers, is hereby not recognized by these states and will not be allowed to function within their borders.

Did you mean this?:

Actually, I think the red and blue states should consider a mutually agreed-upon divorce in to 2 nations, so Nebraska would end up with Texas and the South.

The elections processes since the 90's have shown how different the red and blue states really are from one another, and the differences, to me, seem irreconcilable.

Yes... I probably should have read that over before posting.

Thanks.

I would repeal Digital Millennium Copyright Act or whatever the one that makes the internet not free as long as no one is making money off of copyrighted material.

Nebraska's not as red as you think, especially Omaha. It's more of a purple state. Even Nebraska Republicans don't want that TransCanada pipeline mucking oil into people's farms. The death penalty is almost never used here, and paddling is illegal in pubic schools. I'd much rather be separated from Texas than go with it.

BayToBay shall be sovereign of the US. Muahahaha

Nebraska is as red as it gets. Romney is +15 right now. McCain won by 15 points, and bush won by 33 points.

Sounds like you're a fish out of water :)

This is a law I would pass for all nations, anywhere.

If a high state official (president, governor, congressman, president staff, and such) has broken, bend or in any way obstruct the Constitution, failed to reinforce the laws he/she has sworn to protect and show allegiance to a foreign nation, the occupant of said function is guilty of high treason, for which the sentence is death.

You get the idea.

McCain didn't get all of Nebraska's electoral votes and both parties are united against the pipeline. Send that oil muck through our farms and you'll encounter angry Nebraskans with pitchforks. Democrat Bob Kerry will be elected to the Senate, and he's more liberal than Ben Nelson, the previous Democrat. Nebraska hardly ever executes anyone. Texas executes hundreds per year. Texas is far, far to the right of Nebraska. If Texas wants to leave the country, I'm fine with that.

Hmm. Not according to the numbers.

Texas has Romney +16 or so right now. McCain won by 11.5 points, and Bush won by 22.9 points.

Objectively speaking, Texas and Nebraska are both deep red, and about equal in that regard.
