If the Habsburg Family were still the "Royals" of Austria in 2025, which of their 3 children would you prefer to rule as Queen or King ?

These are the 3 Habsburg kids today:

Eleonore (31 + currently a mom and jewellery designer + her husband, at a Formula 1 race):

Ferdinand (28, the only son + currently a professional race car driver):

Gloria (25, film director + her father Karl, 64 - who would be the Austrian King right now):

For me:

Probably Ferdinand ... as a racing driver, he has the focus and determination a statesman needs.

On the other hand, it would be nice to have a Queen again.

And on the other hand, I would rather want the Monarchy to be something more representative like the Austrian President right now (a so-called "figurehead"), not an absolute monarchy where the king/queen gets to decide a lot of things.

So, for representation purposes, the 2 daughters would also fit well, while the daily politics would still be part of a regular parliamentary democracy.

Is Austria a nation?

Why does it possibly matter?

And why isn't this in the History thread.?

You may as well ask: If the US was overthrown by Britain in the War of 1812, who would be Regent of the territory? It's speculative and answers no reasonable question.

"How many Angels can stand on the head of a pin"?

"If God is all powerful, could he create a rock that he himself could not lift"?

EDIT: Yes I stole that last one from George Carlin.

Habsburgs were unfortunate to get caught up in World War I. Of the four Empires to fall in 1918, they were the best run.

I would take the Habsburgs over the Windsors any day.

Ferdinand, in fond memory of the late Archduke.

Caught up? They basically started the whole thing.

The Austria-Hungarian Empire was so backward in 1914, they could not even handle a bunch of Serb rebels without needing Wilhelm to back them. They were pathetic.

Actually Serbian scum started the whole thing.

Ridiculous. Not even slightly. An individual not representing the State does not start a war.

It's not really slang. It's the normal reaction to the mention of any other country.
They can't help it. They went to American schools.

If you put your ass on the hole you will create a void....

They needed Germany help because Russia threw itself in to protect Serbia.
But it was at best a regional dispute.
It was France's decision to jump in to protect Russia (when their treaty was a defensive treaty, and nobody was threatening Russia), which forced Germany to move and which eventually forced the UK to respond.
