McCain is a man of principle and integrity. The first time he really made his mark on politics was when he fought the lobbyist in Washington over how campaigns were financed and he won:

Not only is he a seasoned veteran but he is also a very stately politician with years of experience. He believes in the principle that America stands for.

Re: If the Candidates were McCain and Hillary for president in 2008 who would you pic

I said Hillary.

I'm not really sure why. I even worked on McCain's 2000 election campaign and was in South Carolina when Rove showed his morality and ethics (and by that I mean a lack thereof) and ambushed us with slander ads after agreeing to run a clean campaign. Not that I'm bitter...

But I do think the country has swung very far to the right in terms of the executive, Judicial and legislative branches of government lately. Bush has over-done it to such an extreme, that I feel a balance needs to be restored. I think our current governmental tendencies pose a danger and risk that may already take a generation or two to correct.

For that reason, I really want to see a Democrat win.

I also wouldn't mind being able to say, "I voted for and supported the first woman President in our great nation's history." So there's another reason.

And let's face it, she's sharp. She's not an idiot. She's not crazy. She's young, brilliant, articulate, charismatic, and she carries something we desperately need with her; international credibility.

In the last 8 years, we spent all of our global capital that we had built up. We're now running a significant deficit in terms of "global sway" and the global community sees us as the crack-house on the corner. Whether rightly so or not, she carries with her the ability to freshen our allies to our words and open their hearts and minds to us for reconciliation. She also offers our adversaries something to be worried about. Again, whether she earned that credibility or not is moot. She has it.

And fiscal responsibility. She's been fiscally responsible as a member of the legislative branch. She's done well for New York. The only government in the last 50 years to actually shrink happened to belong to her husband. The idea of fiscal responsibility and paying off the deficit invigorated our economy, which now struggles, and again whether she has earned it or not, she carries economic hope along side her.

And many other reasons... But yeah. I love John McCain. I think he's a brilliant man and a truly courageous and righteous leader... But I think Hillary simply offers more hope and balance to a nation that desperately needs it right now.

You might wait til 08 to see what the congress looks like before voting for sHrIllary. I have always wondered why straight males would ever support the Wicked Witch of Westchester-I read something a few years ago that noted that fewer White Males Identify with the dems that at any time since hoover and hillary was seen as another wedge driving such voters out of what is now a feminized political movement

so you know the woman of Arizona think hes pond scum......
You're confusing McCain with another Republican hypocrite, Newt Gingrich. McCain's wife never had cancer, she was in a car accident that left her disfigured and obese....and they did get divorced and he did marry a much younger woman....

Gingrich's wife had cancer and he divorced her and married a woman 25 years younger who also happened to work in his office....all this during the impeachment hearings that he was leading against Clinton...Republicans have really cornered the morality in this country, don't you think?

still leghumpin my posts I see-are you one of those men I was talking about? I can see why you got upset

Thats a tough one because they both have their good points and bad points.
The bottom line is that if either wins then I would be happy.
Pretty much whoever wins will be a HUGE improvement over the Bush regime (unless somehow Frist or Allen win...then it will be business as usual as it has been).

I really am looking forward to 2008 because hopefully it will be the end of one of the darkest times in the history of this Country.

if those were my options I would move to canada for 4 years.

I do not argue that undereducated white males are Republicans, that's obvious. I do not dispute that they voted more for Bush.

My point is that you have no way of knowing what would happen in 2008 and you're ignoring or not factoring in the effect of a female candidate and how that would drive women to vote for Hillary...either canceling out the white male sector or even exceeding it....Too soon to tell...

Re: If the Candidates were McCain and Hillary for president in 2008 who would you pic

why would a straight white male want HIllary to be president?

Isn't that one mighty stupid question?

That would be like my writing:

"Why would anyone with an education or conscience ever vote Republican?"

Both questions are really dumb.

well you appear to be a straight white male so why do you go gaga over an anti-masculine virtues candidate. Actually many of us with educations Vote GOP because we are tired of having our hard work taken to buy votes for the dem elite.

some of us actually support america rather than bashing it as your side does

btw the people with the lowest IQs and educational achievements tend to support your beloved nannystate politics

Because some people actually consider the issues, instead of where they fit into political stereotypes.

so what libertarian values do you share with Hillary

It was the issues which motivated my comments. that hillary is a woman has nothing to do with it-many dem males have anti-masculine values as well. a nannystate government or banning guns for example

Nothing like basing one's politics by the size of their penis! Equating gun control to masculinity is the perfect example of simple minded penis envy.

Intellect and machismo are not compatible in politics. You're back pedal in this post to "Hillary is a woman has nothing to do with it" is unbelievable coming from you.

Intelligent people vote on the issue not the gender....you've shown you're "hung" up on the sex of the candidate as it relates in this instance to Hillary...or you wouldn't ever bring it up...

I guess you are unable to understand that gun control tends to appeal to the nannystaters. I would never claim Coulter or the late Helen Chenoweth pushed "feminized" political values. I really don't care what you find unbelievable. You have proven you are unable to deal with reality when it isn't strained through a far left sponge

I can see why you feel that way because if this poll is any reflection of a national election Hillary would get creamed...........

thats not the problem. I usually vote for 3rd party candidates and they always get creamed. the problem is that I'm not a big fan of Hillary. she is merely the lesser of two evils.

A ridiculous point in an equally ridiculous minor, tiny issue amongst the American electorate. Like anyone with a brain would vote for someone solely based on thier gun control point of view!

Think about the lack of brain power it takes to make gun control the deciding factor? Forget Iraq, Iran, Afghanistan, Katrina, Energy Crisis, Global Warming, Crime, Diplomacy etc...if it all comes down to owning a gun....:shoot :naughty :cuckoo: :sarcasticclap

this is funny coming from a guy who has been braying that the speaker ought to step down over a matter that matters not in the great scheme of things. Dems lost the house over gun control and some of us realize that a party that wants to abolish gun rights is an evil nefarious group.

if you thought the issues you mention are so important, why the spamgasm of stuff on Foley?

Re: If the Candidates were McCain and Hillary for president in 2008 who would you pic

I can trust McCain

I cannot trust Hillary

Ergo I would vote for McCain

Nanny-statism includes things like telling consenting adults they can't get married, and banning recreational drug use, and telling people they can't burn a piece of fabric. Do you support bans on those things? If not, you're a hypocrite.

If you look hard you will see I think the war on drugs is a joke that creates crime and I have never been against gay marriage. I also think the flag burning amendment is a joke-if you own it you ought to be able to burn it

Uh I am an agnostic and Bible thumpers make me hurl. they don't cost me money though nor try to ban the rights I find most important so they don't rank as bad as many on the left. Humor apparently was one of the courses you missed:mrgreen:
