Yes, addicts are medically ill enough to use whatever they can get hold of to feed the addiction. Unfortunately, meth is one of the most highly addictive substances there is, AND the treatment is very ineffective. There are very few drugs they can use to mitigate the horrible withdrawal symptoms. Unlike other addictions. So, getting a meth addict to a place where the psychological treatment can take place, means putting them through some pretty horrible physical withdrawal.
In a word: Yep. If I wanted to do meth the fact some old white dudes say I cannot would make 0% difference. Who cares?

Oh i understand, but methamphetamine and amphetamine are different substances, as are the names "meth" and "speed". As some have pointed out, we give "speed" to our children and scare the public with "meth" or "crank" or "tik", or whatever you choose to call it.

Pointing out that the people who run my state are old and white is simply a pure matter of fact. Not sure how it's racist. But if it is, I'm fine with it.
