ICE on track to deport 600K migrants in 2025, 2 million have left: ‘Just the beginning’

Wait!! Where's the labor shortage? Who's going to pick our crops? LOL
President Donald Trump acknowledged Thursday that U.S. hospitality and agriculture operators are saying immigration enforcement is removing longtime workers whose jobs are "almost impossible to replace."

"Our great Farmers and people in the Hotel and Leisure business have been stating that our very aggressive policy on immigration is taking very good, long time workers away from them, with those jobs being almost impossible to replace," Trump wrote on Truth Social on June 12, adding that "Changes are coming!"

Trump did not say what his administration would do to help hotels and farmers.

Do people not understand why farmers like illegals? They can't get Social Security numbers, so they often don't pay taxes! They're outlaws! And then they turn around and get government-funded medical care and other services. Yes, it's cheaper for the farmer out of pocket, but you're paying for it in taxes and inflation on the back end!

Hurt farmers should hire legal labor even if it means paying taxes. Doing things the right way isn't always dirt cheap.

Higher prices for the consumer is a small price to pay fot "doing things right."

There won't be a burrito stand left anywhere, That just ain't right imo.

Or more to the point, there won't be Mexican cooks in the kitchen at everyone's favorite Italian restaurant or Texan steakhouse or sushi shop. At least that's what I remember from my California days.

Around here, it's no more Hondurans or Salvadorans doing landscaping.

Contrary to common assumptions, undocumented immigrants, or those without a valid and unexpired visa or other form of legal status, also pay federal, state, and local taxes. Because they are not eligible for Social Security numbers (SSNs), the IRS requires these individuals to comply with federal tax reporting by issuing them individual taxpayer identification numbers (ITINs). Some survivors of domestic violence, Cuban and Haitian entrants, student visa holders, and certain spouses and children of those with employment visas also use ITINs. According to the Treasury Inspector General for Tax Administration, there were 5.4 million active ITINs in January 2021.

Per the IRS’ Taxpayer Advocate Service, over 2.5 million federal tax returns were filed by ITIN filers in 2019, with a total reported tax liability of nearly $6 billion. Additional estimates suggest that undocumented immigrants pay nearly $12 billion in annual state and local sales, excise, income, and property taxes (Gee et al. 2017). Undocumented immigrants also pay billions of dollars in federal payroll taxes that are withheld from their wages, even though they are not eligible to benefit from the Social Security and Medicare programs these revenues support (Goss et al. 2013).

We're paying for it anyway in taxes and inflation when those illegals don't pay taxes and do get medical and other government services. Your argument only works on people who can't think 2 steps ahead.

You can't put an ITIN on a W-2. If you had bothered to read the instructions, you'd have figured that out.

ITIN doesn't prove illegal status.

Irrelevant. Cities often don't even check for immigration status and brag about offering federally-funded services regardless of immigration status, so that's meaningless. Just look at NYC.

Is deporting people causing farms to suffer and prices to rise really "thinking 2 steps ahead?"

God help us.

The only reason these illegals get a TIN is so they can apply for tax credits and get paid by the IRS. Think about it. 50% of the population don't pay income tax. Which half do you think farm workers would fall under?

On the other hand, they are an integral part of the economy. Their absence hurts the economy. Its foolish to deport them.

They pay FICA which is a 15% tax on every dollar they earn. No deductions. and never get any benefits
Undocumented immigrants are significant net contributors to the Social Security trust funds because they are generally ineligible to collect benefits.
  • Net positive effect: In 2013, the Social Security actuaries reported that the earnings of undocumented immigrants had a net positive effect on the Social Security trust fund. A 2010 report estimated that undocumented workers contributed $12 billion more to the fund than they received in benefits.
  • No access to benefits: This occurs because undocumented workers who pay taxes using an ITIN or a fraudulent SSN cannot claim Social Security or Medicare benefits. The contributions they make remain in the system.

ITINs can go on tax returns, but not on W-2s, which is how the information reporting and matching is done by the IRS (to enforce compliance for employees). Gangbangers and drug dealers are probably in a better position to report and pay taxes properly, but pretending that border-jumping outlaws and career criminals are doing it in significant number when the enforcement structure is missing is pretty obtuse.

Price we have to pay for allowing Democrats to have open borders.

  • How it works: An undocumented worker may present a fake or stolen Social Security Number (SSN) to an employer. When this happens, taxes (including federal income tax and Social Security and Medicare taxes) are withheld from their paychecks and submitted to the government, just as with a legally authorized worker.
  • Due diligence: The Immigration Reform and Control Act of 1986 requires employers to verify an employee's identity and work eligibility using a Form I-9, but employers are not required to verify the validity of the documents beyond ensuring they appear genuine. This makes it possible for the system to be exploited.
  • Tax contributions: As a result of this system, billions of dollars in taxes are paid by undocumented immigrants into the Social Security system, though they are ineligible to collect benefits later.

Uhuh. And these illegals jump through hoops to pay taxes improperly after jumping the border and wiping their asses with our laws...why? I'm sure Al Capone paid all his taxes, too. :ROFLMAO:

They have been roofing, doing farm labor. working in hotels, restaurants, lawn care, old folks homes, health care, child care, and etcetera. Many for twenty years or more while raising American families.

What does that have to do with proper tax reporting (that they can't do) or your absurd premise?
