I just noticed that the flag in my avatar is the Canadian flag. And while I have great affection for
our friends to the north I'm still an American citizen unless someone forgot to tell me something.

Don't recall changing it - hell I don't remember
setting my home country when I joined but that was 13 years ago and my memory ain't the greatest so who knows.

So what gives?

As a Canadian I have to object to arbitrarily using a nation's emblem as your personal motiff.

The Canadian flag is distinct and is seen a a peace sign around the world. For billions of people freeing conflict and starvation it is a sign of hope.

For an American who lives in a country that has been at war or planning a war its entire history is pretty arrogant.

I'll use the Israeli flag to wipe my ass next time I shit.

I think @Gaius46 has become unanchored from space-time and is quickly switching into and out of multiple parallel realities. I hope he is able to use this new-found power to identify threats to the multiverse and recruit a team of inter dimensional superheroes to join him in defending our reality from total destruction.
 
I would have stuck with the Canadian flag since the American one is embarrassing nowadays

My reported location based on my IP address when using 5G varies by up to 500 miles (that's 800 kilometers for you Canadians). My location is very rarely even close to my actual location – I'm on AT&T's network, so the address pool is probably rather large.

If you're somewhat close to the border, and you are connecting via a major mobile provider; it's not too surprising that your location might be reported north of the border occasionally.


Edit to add: my reported location rarely comes back as Mexico, even though I am somewhat close. My IPv4 location says I'm currently in Hollywood. I am not in Los Angeles.

When I saw the title to your thread I thought you had some personal epiphany and I wondered why you put it in tech support. You don’t choose the the flag yourself and nobody chose it for you. It’s based on where the tower or IP (or whatever it is) is located.
